I use a thing like this https://www.amazon.com/DozyAnt-Un...ljaz10cnVl and refill my bottles outside for savings.
It's not for everyone, the safety patrol will be here any minute to wring their hands about people doing this and being unsafe. Housecat type guys might want to just buy the propane bottles at Target and have a frappe.

I set one up recently. The main thing would be you have to vent the diesel heater outside. I put one in my garage and have liked it so far.

The most important things to note are:
1. You will need something to vent it outside. I went with a piece called: AQXMIOE 22mm Straight Thru Hull Exhaust
2. You will need to figure out how you are going to get power. I went with a piece called: 12V Auxiliary Power Outlet AC to DC Converter, then you will also need a cigarette plug to wire it up to that power supply
Overall this works well and I like it a lot better than the propane. There is a fan that runs, and also you can hear the pump running, but not too loud overall.
Price matched the one at northern tools. They allowed it. I was going to buy from northern but checkout wasn't going through plus Walmart will deliver it today so I went with that option. Hopefully the Walmart one has a fan. If not I might just go with the sams deal.

Looking at the specs, 18kBTU ~ 5.3kW, so the unit you're suggesting and this one are comparable in terms of heating capacity; that said I have a big buddy and it's not really great for a 2 car garage. I'd have to leave it on full blast for a few hours just to take the edge off the cold.

That is a loaded question. Obviously insulation is a big issue. It puts out heat, but keeping a space warm has a lot factors. I use it in a one stall garage for a golf simulator.
As for the extension hose. I have one of those too. If you go that route, make sure you get a filter. I don't know if it is a pressure issue or a dirt issue, but my heater stops working on the just the hose. I have to disconnect and reconnect to get it to re-fire. When the filter is in place, I don't have those problems.
Five days is the new "quick" amazon shipping time. Plus, I have had two late deliveries this week alone.
I don't know what the heck has happened to Amazon Shipping, but there is no way that Prime is worth $179.
