I bought this set in 2017 (front page slickdeal at the time). I use the medium size all the time and the other two occasionally on a gas stove, and I've had no issues. The surface was a little rough to start out, but I think that's common.

So strange that the reviews are all mixed. I would think that Ozark Trail would be pretty good brand but cracking cast iron at medium heat or on gas is quite crazy. I'd may be okay if only one person said it but there's quite a few saying the same thing. Anyone here have first hand experience with these??

those who crack cast iron probably gave it temperature shock.

if you're worried about cracking, be careful with sudden temperature changes, or buy 2 sets just in case

I have had 2 of the 12" pans for a couple years and use them each pretty regularly in the kitchen. Have not had any issues with them so far.

Honestly, you're better off finding cast iron that looks gross from 50+ years ago at a thrift store, or getting them when an older family member passes. Throw it in a fire (or other very high heat methods to carbonize anything on it) then re-seasoning it.

I put an old 50 yr old cast iron my parents gave me in the oven and set it to cleaning setting, around 3 hours and a very smokey, stinky kitchen later, the old seasoning turned to dust and the pan looks brand new. Had to immediately wash and put a new coat of seasoning before the rusting appeared. I found the OT brand pans were rough, so I sanded the cooking surface with 60 grit orbital sander to knock down the peaks, still rough, but will be using it mainly for deep frying and not sauteing.

I have these, I mostly make cornbread or fry potatoes in them. I know it says they are pre-seasoned but I seasoned them again before I ever used them and I love them.
