How are these compared to the Husky/Craftsman/Hart ones? Been looking for a good set for under $100 for a while. I missed my chance on the $79.99 deal on the Hart set a while back and am still a little bitter about that lol.

Derek from Vice Grip Garage likes it, that's a good endorsement in my book: https://youtu.be/opUkfrKoiuw?t=1460

I picked up the SD favorite 192 piece DeWalt set early last year, thought about keeping it in the truck. It's quite nice, but has no wrenches, and the case is a bit big. It lives in the garage, and comes in real handy there. I think I'll pick up this Pittsburgh set for the truck, it looks like it should cover most tasks, lots of capability for the price. Looking back through expired deals, it looks like $96.99 was the BF price back in 2016. That would be $119.27 with today's inflation, so this is a pretty slick deal.

I went to home depot to check out the husky 270 piece for $100, but ended up getting this set. These feel a bit more sturdy than the husky set. I also prefer the Pittsburgh case.

The Dewalt 192 is probably more comprehensive if you need more sockets. Quality of sockets is probably similar if you're not using them professionally. The rest of the harbor freight set is likely poorish quality, but fine for occasional use.

You are saying Pittsburgh sockets are more sturdy than husky?

IMO, hands down without question the Dewalt 192 set.
I have it and like it so much I'm actually tempted to buy another one as a backup or to keep at another location I may need it.

Dewalt 192 in my opinion (I just bought it myself), if you buy this product right, and don't lose your bits, you bought it for life.

Especially if you start getting impact drivers that add stress, I'm bullish on Harbor Freight in general but Pittsburgh quality can be all over. While the bits may be fine, I own some of those other pliers and such and can say they will not have lifetime lifespans, many of them broke, that adjustable wrench is garbage, They are all fine for the typical harbor freight stick it in your cart because its $2.99 price, but I think a lot of what you are buying here is one organizer filled with quality and a lot of this one is formed for elements you may consider baggage in the future.

I didn't know how nice ratcheting wrenches could be until I used this new Dewalt one, a real bump up in quality, I imagine the HF "Icon" brand would compare, but I own a few of those Pittsburghs, they don't.

Random question here but.....
Anyone strugle separating metric vs SAE???
anyone know if there is a quality set that is......only only metric, and another quality set that is all SAE?

So, I could keep them completely separate.
I have looked around, not found a good option. Most sets are a combination of both.

Ideally, I would keep my garage, tools, and life organized.

Unfortunately, I've given up on me thinking I can stay organized.

I even tried spray painting the metric ones one color and the SAE another color.

Anyhow, no worries if no ideas. I know I'm just really inherently unorganized and wish I could be better at that. I'm fairly ADD and Ive always struggled with that sort of thing.

Depends on your particular use case. I have the DeWalt 192 set and like it a lot, but it has no combo wrenches, pliers, bit/screwdrivers, etc. Sure, I can scrounge all those up and throw them in a gatemouth bag---but for grab-and-go, one case, general purpose use, the HF 225 provides more flexibility.

I keep metric wrenches in one drawer, SAE in another. My sockets sets all live in one drawer, with metric on rails by shallow or deep well on the left side, SAE on the right. Hasn't been an issue....

Another consideration when buying store brands (e.g. Pittsburgh, Husky, Kobalt, Masterforce)--since they're all average Chinese junk anymore--is how easy it is for you to warranty swap them. I've got a Harbor Freight 2.5 miles down the road. The big box stores (HD, Lowes, Menards) are farther across town and in a less convenient shopping area. If I'm just picking something up cheap and not buying for life, HF makes sense for me since it's much quicker to get it replaced if it breaks.
