I'm not sure I'd use the term audiophile but I definitely dabble, and i would not "snub my nose" at this. Used appropriately and with proper expectations this could add much needed low end to your living room movie night. Very easy to get $50 worth of "utility" out of something like this if you treat it with care, in my opinion.

No, this will be fine for what you want. Another nice 8" sub which is no longer made is the Mirage Omni S8. Check your local CL or FBM. For $75 or so, very hard to beat. The S10 is even better, but very hard to find.

Ordered this to pair with my 1280DBs's I just picked up. I plan on using them for my PC. Am I better off trying to get a used sub 10" or more? I wont be turning it up that loud since I am right in front of my PC so I figured 60w should be plenty.

You might want to consider the JBL 550p on sale for $200 right now. It's a sealed sub so is very tight and great for music. I have one myself and I love it. The next step up from there is going to be $400-500 for a speedwoofer, one of the SVS models, or similar.

I realize this is cheaper, but the sound/bass response is cheap as well. Could work for someone who's on a very, very tight budget. Had it, didn't like it. Replaced it with the 10" Elac for $40-50 more and couldn't be happier (for a budget sub).

I added this to a pair of 1280s with a Chromecast audio. Pretty happy with it in a small office.

i have a concern/questions if someone can help answer. i have an old vizio soundbar. it has red&white/R&L, optical, and aux. input and one rca purple sub out line. how can i connect this subwoofer to that soundbar to have it work? i dont see this subwoofer have a 1 line sub input. do i need to get an RCA 1 male to 2rca cable? (to plug into soundbar output)?

Would this work with Edifier R1280DBs? They're active speakers, no audio video receiver. They have an input in back of the speaker to connect a subwoofer, but not sure if it has to be a passive or active one.

According to Q&A on Monoprice.com product web site…should be good going single RCA to single RCA
