If you're new to the licensing model:
If you are on M365 family and add a 12 month M365 personal subscription you can choose between:
Extend the family subscription for 9 months, instead of 12
Change your subscription to a personal plan and add 12 months to it
If you are on a M365 personal plan and add a M365 family subscription, it will allow you to convert your subscription and add the extra time.
