Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I forgot but I did also added White interior. I can't stand black interior. So it either I have to go with another color option or add $4k for 7-seater. I just don't know if 7-Seater offers anything a 5-Seater doesn't when it comes to accommodating 3 kids because you can't fold the 2nd row if 2 Car Seats are in use in 2nd row.
In case of Model y 5 seater vs 7 seater you might loose significant trunk space when using 3 rd row.

Was hoping to do a refundable reservation and think later, but it appears they required a $250 non-refundable order Fee. Tried to order a Red 5-seater but the Red color pushes the price over $55,000 so disqualifies the tax credit. I'm more than a little worried that the 7-seater Model Y can't accommodate 3 car seats. Anyone have any clue? I have 2 Chicco NextFit car seats and those are pretty wide and bulky. Would hate to waste hundreds of dollars to buy entirely new car seats to fit a Model Y.

I'm already locked in the $7500 tax credit with the Rivian R1S, but they say expect delivery late 2023. The Rivian R1S so so much more roomy and would work, but that delivery date is a concern. The Model Y delivery date is better, but that interior dimension is a little concerning.
After seeing the Rivian pickup on the road and sitting in our friend's Y, I would believe the Y 7-seater would have enough room for 3x of those if they will fit in the Rivian, but definitely more room in the Rivian--that's a big truck compared to the Y.

Haha. Superbowl pricing I guess. Tesla should have been this price or lower all along. Musk played the customers and they happily gave away $10,000.

Tesla stock is tanking in the pre-market. Investors obviously don't like the idea of deals... 🤣

Elon of course said the demand is unlimited... He said a bunch of other bullshit too though. Enjoy your full self-driving driving and robot taxi income.

Also one more thing to mention is make sure you have a 240v charger at home before buying. Alot of the tesla charging booths are mostly full when you want to charge. I don't know how you feel about waiting half an hour before being able to charge. Also when the charging booths are full the charging is alot slower even on a level 3 super charger!

Hm... looked at the numbers and it still doesn't seem to make sense for me to upgrade from my 2019 M3. The $7500 covers only a little bit more than California taxes plus the used values are much lower now. Carvana is offering me $23k lol, oh what a year can change.

For those that recently took delivery prior to Tesla removing all of the Ultra Sonic Sensors, just be glad that you have something that's useful. You have a superior variant vs the gimped 2023* models.

Tesla removing features and calling it a feature or an upgrade is a total Apple move. It's clearly a cost cutting spree.

Remember guys, there is value in owning something now and enjoying it. No one has a Crystal ball so make peace with things and enjoy your ownership.

The price drops were kind of predicable, but just be glad that you have a superior variant with sensors and real Brembo brakes- (referring to the new performance model Ys that have rear fake Brembo's with a plastic caliper that's painted Red.) Not kidding.

If the price drop that has been nothing short of a sucker punch to recent Tesla buyers wasn't enough, this won't be the last time that Tesla will add insult to injury.

There are a plethora of EV options literally just around the corner. Hang tight.

Back to the tax questions.. after the AGI requirement is met ..Only thing that matters is that line 24 should be greater than 7500. Ignore line 25d, line 34 & line 37.
CORRECT?

Definitions below:
Line 24: The total tax due is what you owe in taxes for the year

Line 25d: Income tax withheld is the total amount withheld from your income

Is the number on Line 25d larger than the number on Line 24? If so, that means you withheld too much.
Go to:
Line 34: This is your refund

Or is Line 24 larger? If so, you didn't withhold enough. Go to:
Line 37: This is the amount you owe
Yes, correct line 24 >$7500

Not at 197 hp, 0-60mph in 7.2 seconds and still sip at 57 miles per gallon. I don't think the owners will call that boring. I plan on picking one up in awd.
Sounds like my modded 1995 Altima SE--Hotshot tri-y header, and Greddy cat back really opened it up and I got stupid good mileage at 45mph.

Here's the thing, a lot of people only own their car for 5 years
I know zero people that do this and just waste money on new cars.

People that buy an overpriced drivable battery are well just imo not that smart. The novelty of this car brand has expired just like the battery life will.
