Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I just paid cash for a 2016 Ford F250 Superduty Powerstroke Diesel...factoring in my trade-in, the vehicle was probably sold to me for about $36,000. No car payments, just have to buy a ton of Diesel fuel to put in it! If I would have traded in my previous vehicle for one of these, I would probably end up with a car loan for $19,000 +/- with taxes included. My credit union's current rate is 5.75% for 60 months giving me a car payment for the next 5 years of $365/ month to own a Tesla. I can buy a lot of diesel for that... I am happy with my ginormous truck!
You have no idea how much you paid for your vehicle? Lmfao

4680 is not LFP FYI

4680s are cylindrical, Tesla does not use cylindrical LFP (I'm not aware of anyone who even makes cylindrical LFP thought it's technically possible)

4680s are produced by Tesla (in CA, and soon in TX and Berlin)- LFPs are produced by CATL in China.

LFPs are "better" in that they last longer and can safely be charged to 100%, but 2170 (and 18650 and 4680 the other two cylindrical non-LFP cells Tesla uses) are "better" in that they have superior energy density (so you can get more range from the same weight of battery cells)...so both have pros and cons.
Headway makes cylindrical LFP batteries. LFP batteries also do not go into thermal inferno like 4680s or similar Lithium-Ion batteries.

How is a vehicle a Frontpage deal. Yup, I got $60K to just blow on a new Tesla. People that got money to blow are not on Slickdeals and if they are then that is weird because if I had that kind of money I wouldn't care about consumer goods.
How do you think people got to the point where they have money to blow? I promise you the thriftiest spenders are the wealthiest. The difference is they've figured out the three types of income. You'll never obtain wealth simply by working for wages and surfing SD.

Hopefully, it'll cause price drop on competing EV automakers!
That's what I'm hoping for.

This is partly a "Musk can't keep his yap shut" move. Every time he tweets some conspiracy theory, as a stock holder I cringe, but thankfully I sold a bunch earlier.

More on topic, as an urban dweller, I still won't jump to EV until one is available for around 20k for an urban commuter. My household doesn't need high range or upscale elements, I already have a gasoline vehicle in the household for longer trips and that stuff.

I'd jump on a cheap EV though, it could handle 70% of the typical weekly driving in my household, but it's got to be an economy car, that's the point for my usage.
Found the lefty Musk hater.

Before I jump on this deal, I need to know what you found out.....
like what conspiracy issues? Because all that is being done that I can see, is revealing actual past tweets revealing misconduct via collusion of crooked politicians and former Twitter execs who since have resigned.

Are there loopholes for higher earners to get the tax credit?
Claim huge losses this year to get your AGI below the income threshold.

example: Buy TSLA stocks right now.

Now that the once darling child bought Twitter and is trying to make free speech fair and available to everyone, he's now despised. LOL

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022, I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Teslas are a piece of shiitake. They finally bought my neighbor's back from him after a long string of mechanical and software problems they could never make right. Your net environmental impact isn't improved, you're paying more and not getting a corresponding increase in quality, so....why then? Is it the Apple effect? Although Apple actually makes good (usually reliable) products.
