Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If I put down deposit today for any car that shows up in inventory, can I delay buying until end of February? I'll be out of town starting next week so asking.

So I just saw on their website that the California CRVP rebate is increasing to $7500 Feb. 28th for those that are low income. This in addition to the federal $7500 makes the RWD model 3 an amazing deal for those who qualify: $28,990. I believe you can take delivery before they increase the CVRP rebate; as long as you submit the application after the rebate increases you should get the increased amount. Have placed an order. Unfortunately, even though these tax rebates are subsidizing car purchases for the rich at the expense of tax payer dollars, if you don't take advantage you are also missing out (and paying for other people's EVs).
I looked that up, it looks like the $7500 increased CVRP is for Fuel Cell cars. Like hydrogen powered cards.

For electric vehicles the increased rebate is $4500. My dad will be looking for a Bolt after March 1st.

the same could be said for an 8 year old ice car with an engine thats about to die and among other things... just look at 8yr old german luxury cars or american gm/ford cars
Not exactly the same analogy. If I buy an 8-year-old vehicle and the engine goes I might be out several thousand dollars. I'm not going to be out 20,000.

the tesla driving experience, day to day, is so much better than anything available in the general car market it's actually commendable for such a new brand. and quite funny to read the comments from non owners.

i've owned the best foreign cars, and love to trade up--and i actively look for something other than my m3p, and there's just nothing out there. monthly updates? 0-60 in 3 seconds? 300 mile range? fun AF to drive?

has anyone actually owned a tesla, went back to a "german lux brand" and thought oh baby i'm back in my old tech, alright! and finally traffic can keep up with me! let me warm this sucker up first though and turn this idrive dial to find a radio station. the line to get costco gas isn't too bad today i'm only 3 cars deep.

can you also burn me some netscape navigator i can't download it my mom's on the phone
Seriously?? I felt plastic and did not feel the pleasure of driving 60k car. Road noise and bumpy . I drove my cousins model Y and I own Audi, drive quality in Audi by far the best compared to Y. You are just buying a battery and the tablet for 60k. IMO

What is a tax credit? Would this credit add up your refund with your IRS refund during tax time?
A tax credit comes directly off the amount of tax you have to pay. A tax deduction reduces your income, so you pay less tax. So if your marginal tax rate is 15%, then a $1000 deduction means you save $150. A $1000 tax credit reduces your tax by $1000.

Tax credits are more valuable.

Don't bother with this guy. He is trolling, just wants to be validated that Tesla is the gold standard of all that is good and nothing else can compare lol.

Eh. Most people won't be able to claim that tax credit, so it's pointless.

It's crazy how MAGA hates Tesla's yet they love Elon. Anyways, I hope Tesla is forced to install LiDAR/radar/whatever into their cars that don't have them as a result of the lawsuits.
Oh my God this thread has taking a turn for the worst.

Who said maga hates Tesla? Oh my God. Don't reflect your perceived ideology onto everyone here please.

For BEV as well. As per website: "$7,500 for battery-electric vehicles (previously $4,500)"

Tesla ran into the back of our 2018 Nissan Pathfinder. Rather odd, our 2018 Pathfinder would have automatically stopped before running into anything in front of it.

On a 3, you can get anywhere from 200-300 wh per mile, lets average it do 250 since that divides by 1 kwh easily. So 4 miles per kwh. National avg for power in the US is 14 cents.

200k miles / 4 = 50,000 kwh * .14 = $7,000.

200k at 30 mpg and $3/gallon would be $20,000 for comparison.

My old car did about 20 mpg, at current rates I save close to $2000 a year on fuel. But I also save a lot on zero maintenance. Battery failure is a possibility, but it has 8 year / 120k warranty on that and its an edge case.

The NCA cells are rated for 1500 charge cycles, which is close to 500,000 miles. At that point they should have lost around 20% capacity, but still be usable.
good calculation. dont forget about electricity efficiency. lets say 85% (meaning power plant is charging you for 1000watts, by the time it makes it to your car while your driving, youll only get 850watts. so that 7000$ becomes $8,050.
