Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I'm getting tired if paying triple for everything because of crap like this. I do not authorize my tax dollars to help wealthy people purchase luxury vehicles. Such crap.
Then vote the bums out of the office. Your kids and grandkids will be paying for these trillion dollar bills. Most of the projects meant to dig us out of a bad economy with Covid won't start for another 5-10 years.

It's fascinating that it appears the average income of a SDer is $400k+ year. Amazing stuff.
But they'll kill each other for a Walmart clearance deal

Got a Model Y last year, best car I ever had. I have the full self driving, it's really something else! Gets a bad wrap but it does work incredibly well 99.9 percent
What's your 2nd and 3rd best car you ever owned? I'm seriously curious to what you're comparing it too. Ive never even rode in one before. I'm going tomorrow for a test drive. Judging by the looks, I'm having doubts I'll like it. But gotta try it.

I'm just trying to get my $100 back from that Cyber Truck fiasco. Forget this joint lol
Darn, forgot about that truck. What happened? It got crazy amounts of press and people were whining that they regret not getting on the list. To me, the truck had/has much more utility than the car.

i believe "subchapter S corp" is considered a "business" and therefore pays a corporate federal tax of 21%. it is lower than the higher personal income tax brackets, but it still pays some taxes.

That depends on your expenses... You get income... Say Joe's IT LLC gets contracts with Speeches R Us and IT services for Speeches R Us. They need 10 lexus and 5 Tesla model X to move equipment to the venue and back... Expense... They need a house for IT staff and others to use... House is expense... Before long, there is no income to report... and you pay your IT staff 350k - All about tax limits and bang for buck... Thats why Joe and Wife each earn 350k instead of the, oh lets say 4 million in speech n book income... but there is 750k not covered in expenses, so pay your 'employees...' Yes, it is like that. Have you ever seen the reported incomes for the members of congress? Many have 'reported' incomes or net worth that are 'negative'... Anyone believe that? Rollcall dot com has a list of all of 'em... Let's call it what it is. Accounting magic - and anyone can use it. SD'ers included. Frankly, (my opinion) the best tax is a consumption tax because everyone pays... that or a flat tax with no loopholes... but it will never happen.

Not Yolo. Save your money. Cars are depreciating assets. In your position, get a reliable daily. And drive it till the wheels rust off. You'll be in a much better position

I'm sure someone else has said this, but I really want to tell everyone my first hand experience picking up my model Y in November.

The company has TRULY GONE DOWN HILL. I waited 9 months for my car, was so excited, and they wouldn't let me drive the car upon pick up without payment.

Got home to realize that new tesla DO NOT HAVE RADAR TECHNOLOGY OR ULTRA SONIC SENSORS EQUIPED ANYMORE. It truly is a joke, read up on it on the forums, there will be no beeping indicatingy ou are close to hitting something when you go to park the car in your garage, purchase a tennis ball in advance of this as Elon truly is a POS. I tried to return the car the same day and they said "F*CK off" " we use to give you 7 days, but your shit out of luck as we went away from this policy over a year ago". Half of the buyers will be very annoyed by this, read the fourms on how shitty it is without this technology.

Tesla says a soft replacement is in the works but they have no idea when it will be out.
Radar was long gone. For close proximity, software is coming out soon in the next update. In 1-2 weeks.
Btw no car manufacturers will let you return once you walk out the door, this is not buying iPhone.

Tesla removed Radar in May of 2021. And announced it when they did.

That's 2021 again. Almost a year before you even placed your order since you said you waiting 9 months and took delivery Nov 2022... and 18 months before you took delivery.

So that's really on you.

Leasing may be useful if you are over the income limits- or have some way to write it off as a business expense.

In most other cases it's a tax on people bad at math.

THAT said--- note that Tesla currently does not allow you to BUY the car at the end of the lease if that was your intent

You get taxed on 67k - you can only take 3k/yr and carryover the 17k - Next year you take 3k and carryover the 14k and so on.. until you zero it out.
ConfusedWhoaa!! I hope I didn't just screw up badly.
In the example you responded to. He can only deduct $3K off his income, and carry over $3K every year till it's gone, as you say. I know that. BUT!!
You can use unlimited losses in stock losses to offset gains in stock sales, correct??? I"m not sure if losses/gains have to be like transactions, long term / short term? Mine, Long term.
actual. I had $40K in gains (believe it or not).
And sold to accumulate $40K ish in losses (not hard to do in this market climate) amzn/googl

Can someone clarify the 7500 tax rebate. Do I only get the full rebate if my tax liability will be 7500 or more? I've never owed more than 3 4k on my fed taxes. I guess I could change my withholding a bit?
It's not a rebate but it's a tax credit. It's mentioned somewhere in this thread, check line 24 of your last tax return form 1040, that's the tax liability you had. If that was equal to $7500 or more, then you'll definitely get the full tax credit, contingent that your modified AGI is within their limit.
