Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

What's the yearly insurance cost on either of these Tesla in some states for those that have or ordered already?

My quote increased by ~$550 annually. Not too bad, considering I am replacing a 15 year old car with a newer, more expensive vehicle. I assume the insurance cost would be in the same ballpark had I bought another ~50k car instead.

So you spent $60k on a $30k car, insurance increased by $550 and you think it's not too bad? LMAO Is inflation not too bad as well in your opinion?

Do you think that people who bought tesla any other month of the year aren't?
No, but the person who asked the question I replied to was asking specifically about people who bought in December with the $7500 discount + free super charger miles. I did not mean to imply that others are not upset, just that there was a reason why even though we end of December buyers got a discount, there is more savings available now with the new pricing and that stings a little.

In no way does your excerpt say that; to be clear you can not claim a purchase this year on your 2022 return.

The income limit can be attributed to your 2022 return.
What dfworders stated is correct. A simple google search would have helped.

https://www.irs.gov/credits-deduc...3-or-after

You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the two years, you can claim the credit.

If you are talking about quality, should not mention Tesla in the same sentence. Fit and finish on a Corolla is better than a Tesla
There are more than just fit and finish. Materials, technology and features as well. Something you probably have no idea if you drive a Corolla.

There is a reason it's one of the most popular car and safest.

It would be hard for me to swallow that $20,000 of the cost of this vehicle is just the battery alone.

What does it mean with a price cap of $55,000? Does it mean that if I purchase as listed price of $55,490 I can still be eligible for $7500 credit?

Also, if I get the 19" wheels, can I update late to 20" ?

Gas car takes 3 minutes to drive 500 miles. How far can you go with 3 minutes of charge on your 60K Tesla, even on a super charger? How about at home on a 240V AC charger? LOL mao
Have you ever seen the gas line at Costco?

Lol that's what you take out of all these discussions? First mistake is you read consumer report and take that over what countless of happy and satisfied tesla owner telling you here. Super charger network is not some small advantage you are minimizing it to be. IT IS one of main competitive advantage of having tesla where you rarely have to worry about where and how to find chargers, or worry that when you get there 90% of charging station not working (electrifying America). Musk had foresight to build out charging network first and that plays as huge advantage over other. Not to mention on the technology side all the updates you will be receiving through. Just like iPhone. I don't understand what you mean by charging network in California is lacking. Lol, if anything California has one of most number of SC and highest adoption rate of EV.

Also your idea that EV quality is suspect is without merit. Just compare number of parts needed in a car between EV and ICE/hybrid and you will be amazed. That's the reason why non-EV cars need so much maintenance. And if you care about safety, just compare the crash test result between Tesla and whatever car you are driving. Model Y scores the highest test score ever in Euro NCAP. That to me is the most important thing above all else. Just look at that sicko husband drove whole family in Model Y down 250 ft cliff and everyone survived. Model Y's structure and b pillar still in tact after such big fall tells me all I need to know about the safety of the car.

But enjoy your hybrid. Nothing wrong with that, it's just a car that needs more maintenance and takes gas, and less safe. Hopefully next time you will consider EV.
Quite obvious you have a reading and comprehension problem. Not what I said.

None of you SD'rs are getting the tax credit here as you all make more than 300k joint filing (married), so it shouldn't even be in consideration.

Given everything has its pros and cons; Tesla makes the best vehicles.

The problem is their price. Sad, because the advanced technology does not make up for it. And that leaves us with all the problems of gas taxed cars. While there will never be or never should be everything gone electric; All of us would be better off if our around town personal commutes we're in an EV. Except for that pesky price.

I still have some unanswered questions about the cost of replacement parts and the issue of Tesla refusing to provide mechanical information such as a mechanics manual.

Plus; while I'm all for a new technology, if it's good; there's always a concern with BS technology that sometimes has more problems than it's worth. And I don't mean the auto driving feature which I would never pay for or use. Because it's like a different subject.

I'm aware of all the good advantages of an EV vehicle.

The big picture is US government bailout of the old school US auto industry. Unprecedented overreach causing the now collusion of the US government and auto industry against any competitor.

Therefore we observe a lying regime speaking about the importance of electric vehicles as if they are the first to have thought about it. At the same time they have hypocritically done everything possible to sabotage Tesla and its pricing. Now selling their own new, questionable EV models. As if it's free market competition. FYI

What to do? I don't know. Did you vote for this?
