Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

You list is so shitty that it recommends timing belt change at 90k......while all BMW engines use only timing chains which do not require service....
Do you drive a bmw? Many BMWs have plastic timing chain guide , overtime they will be disintegrated which caused the engines to seized up, Google it my friend.

Yes, it is. As a matter of fact, the federal rebate for Tesla was phased out entirely by the end of 2019, so it has been gone for three (3) years. Now its back. Here is your L, add it to the pile, and let me know if you want more.

Next here. Teslas haven't qualified for any Federal tax incentives since calendar year 2019.

Repair under warranty are free too. And no one is forcing you to get preventive maintenance on ICE cars either. If software bug or electrical failure bricks some part of your Tesla you will be still stranded just the same until a patch is available.
After having owned a vw and a MB prior to my Tesla, it was far more reliable and up and running than the other two cars were. Esp once we start talking high mileage like spark plugs, water pump etc

"The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. You can't apply any excess credit to future tax years."

So if I owe $500 in taxes, I lose the $7000!

cause "vegan leather"...what use to be called faux pleather..... is the thing when your are mostly marking to very left spectrum crowd. As I recall the crazy PETA types shamed Telsa into removing all leather from the cars. Musk happily complied to decontent the cars.
It looks not good and I think would not be as durable as leather seats.

Aaaah ok so you found some dated recommendation list by a DEALERSHIP, not the MANUFACTURER....which is what I posted. Got it. They will recommend whatever they want to make sales.

You going to keep ignoring the fact the list you posted recommends changing Timing BELT @ 90k miles while there is no BMW engine that utilizes timing BELTS???

An alleged "car expert" like you should know the difference between timing chain and timing belt.....but maybe not since you believe there's "AWD fluid"
HEY CHIEF, here is your AWD fluid

Here's info on Haldex AWD system so you educate yourself. You'll notice they were installed on certain Fords.....

It's a minor day to day inconvenience until an inattentive driver behind you rear ends you. Then you might not have use of the car for weeks since you have to use Tesla's body shop for repairs, and anecdotally I've read of long waits.

Just not worth the risk for me when I had my Model 3, and yes I was attentive with autopilot, always had my foot on accelerate ready to take over.

Autopilot was still great for long road trips with light traffic.
People overuse AP way too much. It is safest and best on interstates with reasonable traffic

yes I do. This was only problem years back on the low end N20 4 cylinder turbo engine when originally introduced.

100% attempting to confirm from slick dealers, this non refundable tax credit before I put down the deposit for Model Y.

Salary combined with wife withholds approx 10k federal tax in 2022, so I do not 'owe' anything at time of filing taxes, about break even point.

So, since I have already paid approx 10k in federal, would a check / rebate be sent from IRS for this $7500 tax credit?

Does it have to be for this year filing taxes on 2022?
Speak to a tax professional, but how I understand it is that after all deductions, you get a tax rebate/credit up to $7.5k off what you still owe. If you don't owe anything, you get nothing. Or if your income is above the threshold.
Most people, including me don't make enough, to pay enough tax, to get the credit.

It really sucks that this is mainly for high earners with not many other deductions.

Example, a couple making $40k each can't get the full credit. I believe they need to make over $110k per year just to get it with no other deductions. Not 100% on that though.

Just don't trust the dealer if they give it to you off the price right there. Get a tax professional advice instead.

I want a Tesla, but can't afford it, and without the credit, it feels like losing $7.5k in addition to normal depreciation. ugh.

Where does it say in the article that "it was a driver error"?

I see this: "The crash has raised questions about the technology and the driver's role in the incident. Several Tesla owners and experts suggest human error may be a factor, amid a federal investigation."

Investigations take time so to say this or that is the definite cause is premature.

I have experienced Tesla's well-known phantom braking while using their autopilot. It is unnerving when the vehicle suddenly slows down for no reason.

I don't think Tesla or Musk take criticism very well so they will continue to blame the driver even when their self-proclaimed FULL SELF DRIVING doesn't work as the name suggests. They continue to overstate the car's ability while charging $15k for its "phantom" ability. It'd be false advertising if it was any other company.
It's likely a driver error because, from everything we know and could see on video, system worked as designed. In the end it's a level 2 system and driver is to supervise the system. Here's how Tesla describes the system:

">What will I get when I purchase the Full Self-Driving capability?
You will get access to a suite of more advanced driver assistance features, designed to provide more active guidance and automatic driving under your active supervision."

The tax credit is taken in the year the Tesla is delivered. Change your tax withholding this year if you don't want to receive a check/rebate from the IRS next year. There are also other restrictions as well including your joint filing income cannot be over 300K. I hope this helps!

You do know that buying the FSD Beta is not required to purchase a Tesla, right? If you don't think it's worth $15k (and as a matter of fact, I don't either!) why would you buy it?

Full Self Driving Beta is named and advertised accurately. Idiots who can't read or pay attention are the problem. Like the people who think "autopilot" is a misleading name because "planes on autopilot fly themselves from airport to airport with no pilot input" (they don't).
The driver has the ultimate responsibility to not be a moron and believe Tesla's BS marketing, read and abide by the instructions, etc.

Tesla has the responsibility to not name something FULL SELF DRIVE when it's not full self-driving. It's false advertising which is against the law.

Just because something is optional doesn't mean it should take away Tesla's responsibility in marketing.

Yes, companies mislead but it's wrong in any other case as it is in Tesla's case. However, we are not talking about a harmless video game here. We are talking about a 4k+ lbs vehicle that has the real danger to cause serious harm where stupid drivers do stupid things. Mix stupid people with false advertising and you have a recipe for harm.
