Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

The Final Payment screen of the Tesla app says right at the top "Submit a secure payment directly from a bank account. Credit Card payments and personal checks not accepted."

No, you can't use a credit card to pay for your car. Tesla having to pay a 3%+ fee to Chase or whatever would not be in their best interest on a purchase this size.

What about the Hilton Aspire? The wife has been wanting to get this one for while for the perks. What is the max that Tesla allows one to charge on credit card at purchase/delivery?

Hilton Honors Aspire Card
Earn 150,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 in eligible purchases on the Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership.
$250 for the initial order fee. That's it.

Depends on the config you ordered, where you live, etc. Could be as soon as 7-10 days.

Yes, exactly. It's really simple, in one example, you can get up to $7500 back if box #2 on your W2 is $7500 or more. If it's less than $7500, you will get whatever that number is. That's it. It has nothing to do with owing more taxes after you prepare your return like some people keep parroting. It's shocking how complicated all the information out there is when it's relatively simple.
wah.. what if people dont have w2 n use 1099 instead... just use line 24 on 1040 fam... you're making it too complicated for people

So to maximize the deal in CA, you need to make less than 400% of federal poverty and owe at least $7500 in federal tax. How do we do this fellas?

Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranty

Model S
Model X 8 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period.
Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period.
Model 3 Long Range
Model 3 Performance
Model Y Long Range
Model Y Performance 8 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first, with minimum 70% retention of Battery capacity over the warranty period.

The NCA cells have a 1500 charge cycle lifespan, so good for about 500,000 miles. At the end of life, they are expected to have lost 20% capacity. They will still function however.

Which is to say, if your battery has lost 30% capacity, it's majorly screwed, and not likely to occur unless there is a physical defect. You can't really abuse it enough to make that level of capacity loss unless you're a commercial driver with massive miles under your belt.

If I will order Tesla, in example, at February 25th and will receive my vehicle at March 10th. Still am I eligible for tax credit? What date should be considered as a purchase date: February 25th, date when the VIN number was assigned to me, or the March 10th when I will actually get my car?
When you pick up the car. That's when your final contract is signed.

I would never spend $100k for an F-150. You can get a fully loaded three quarter ton for under $100k last time I checked around covid 2020. Diesel engine and all the creature comforts in the cab.
Suggest you also look at the cost of a gallon of diesel. Happily got rid of my F350 dually that got 11 mpg. That's 50 cents a mile. $50K fuel cost for 100k miles.

Most of the cards listed are for gas, grocery and travel. What is more confusing is that they say eligible purchase which makes me wonder if Tesla downpayment is eligible or not. I am sure people would have concluded before me so just looking for the suggestion.
Don't bother. Tesla only accepts credit card on $250 ordering fee.

Even though it may appear that all the Model Y's that are < $55k are no longer in inventory, it may be a good idea to check once in a while. I happened to look in my area and found a new 2023 Model Y STANDARD RANGE on the inventory web page. I ordered one. If 270 miles per full charge, and 5s 0-60mph time, is good enough for you, then this may be a good option. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that they still add to the inventory and < $55k could still pop up.
I thought you only charged these to 80%?
