Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I believe Cadillac has a scheme in place to meet the credit.
What's the scheme? GM figured out a way again to cheat tax payer?

The 62k lyriq suv is cheaper than their gas suv. Comparing a 37k tesla to it is like comparing a 37k tesla to a 2012 model s. Not even close
Lol. A civic. You mean that piece of sh.. Vtec vroom vroom ricer car with a CVT transmission? The one that has like 4 horsepower?

I'll give them credit for increasing it to 6 horsepower for the 2023 model.

30 civic is fully loaded and costs cheaper to gas up on the road. The 37k tesla is crap on wheels and costs an average of 10 cents a mile to run on Superchargers. If you don't believe me I'll be more than happy to find pictures I took while supercharging a long range model 3.

This sums up the reasons why I would never buy a Tesla.

Crap on wheels? Sounds like someone has never driven a tesla. Pretty sure it beats most sports ICE cars in performance without needing premium fuel to achieve 15mpg.

Question: if you work fully remote, what is stopping you from moving to a lower cost of living area?
Was born here. Makes no sense to move somewhere far away and then buy a tesla and spend a bunch of time driving to be around my social circle.

I plan on moving jobs at end of year to somewhere with an office so i can stop paying so much money for an extra bedroom for a home office that i have to pay for with my post tax dollars. I also think working remotely for my role specifically slows down velocity significantly because stakeholders are very hard to get a hold of compared to when I was in office. They typically are running their kids around and block off large chunks of their calendar when they previously would have been at the office

If I add a Bugatti to my avatar, I can run around claiming that I have one and it's a piece of crap as well?

Can anyone explain the $7,500 tax credit like I'm 5? Like the gov will give me a check of $7,500 when I file my tax for 2023 in 2024?
say, if after doing my tax, I owe the gov $10,000, I only need to pay them $2,500?
Or if they owe me $10,000, they pay me $17,500?
Can anyone who has a model Y give an honest opinion if it's actually worth it? Or is it just a hyped?
I was told if something is wrong with the car, I gotta wait weeks for parts order or for an available mechanic to work on it...
I'm in the fence between hybrid vs Tesla...

A tax credit is a way for the government to give you money back when you file your taxes. It's like if you owe the government money, they will take less from you, or if they owe you money, they will give you more.

The $7,500 tax credit is a special kind of tax credit that the government is offering for people who buy a certain kind of car called a Tesla. This means that if you buy a Tesla car in 2023, when you file your taxes in 2024, the government will give you $7,500 back.

So, let's say you owe the government $10,000, if you have the $7,500 tax credit, they will only ask you to pay $2,500. But if they owe you $10,000, they will pay you $17,500.

As for the Tesla Model Y, it's a newer car model that is electric and has some special features. Some people really like it and think it's worth it, but others have had some problems with it and have to wait a long time for parts or for mechanics to fix it.

If you're trying to decide between a Tesla Model Y and a hybrid car, it's important to think about what you need in a car and what you're looking for. It's also important to do your research and see what other people have experienced with these cars.
