Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Completely incorrect. The government will send you total of $17,500 in the original scenario if you have that much liability. Nobody is saying the credit is refundable.

Completely incorrect. The government will send you total of $17,500 in the original scenario, which was you are OWED $10,000 in overpaid taxes before the credit if you have that much liability. Nobody is saying the credit is refundable. With the credit you end up having overpaid $17,500 vs the original $10,000. The $10,000 says zilch about you tax liability, which may have been $40,000.
yes, but the term 'owe' and 'liability' are used interchangeably too casually here that I think it's important to make distinction in my example. You are both right, but to someone who might not be super familiar with tax code it does create confusion.

You can change it as long as VIN is not assigned. On the Tesla App, change the finance to loan (if you had cash) or vice versa and save to make sure it's not complete status and then click on Manage to open the browser and there will be an option to edit design. Once you are done with your changes, you can go back and set the correct finance option and make it complete status.
Thank you for your response. But even though I don't have VIN, I am not able to change finance options. Maybe because loan offer is confirmed? Once I change terms from 60 to 72 months, it still doesn't allow me to edit design.

How far in advance does Tesla contact you to schedule delivery? My estimated delivery is Jan 25-Feb 3. Is this typically accurate?

Can we change color once we place the order? If so, can someone please guide me? Thank you
Yes, you can. Just reply to the order confirmation SMS and ask them to update color.

Is yours a custom built order?

In my case, I selected a Model Y from existing inventory on Jan13th and got a delivery appointment same day for Jan18th-20th window.

Lol. 37k tesla. This post is for a 53k model Y and the 37k tesla is worse than a civic.

The 62k lyriq suv is cheaper than their gas suv. Comparing a 37k tesla to it is like comparing a 37k tesla to a 2012 model s. Not even close
This thread is about a $45.5k or less Model Y if state rebates are available. Buyers who already want to buy the Model Y at $66k last month, it becomes a no brainer to buy it at $45.5k. People who are not convinced yet to buy the Model Y at $45.5k will definitely not be interested in your recommendation and spend $62k on a Lyriq. Those buyers are already stretching their budget buying a $45k vehicle. The Model Y and Lyriq have a price difference of $17k or more (state rebates and savings from $17k of taxes). Using your Civic example, people are not going to buy an Accord if it costs $17k more than a Civic even though the Accord may be a better car.

Mine was an inventory Model 3 LR. I ordered on 1/13 and immediately got a Jan 25-Feb 3 estimate, but nothing new since.

and? only 1-pedal drive and charging network are pertained to EV exclusively. Rest still valid comparison to ICE car.
Excellent list, btw. The threadcrappers will say 'but my Civic/Miata/<insert teenager car> will win after 50 laps at Laguna Seca'

Sometime back used always buy CR Bestbuy options for appliance etc. I've almost never been happy with them. Stop listening to CR years ago.
Not that I advocate or like CR but I find this odd. The Model 3 and Y are essentially the same car built on same platform and same motors. Wonder why they singled out the Model 3.

What was the price difference between the LR and Performance. Looks like the performance is listed at Vehicle Price $53,990 with no options. When searching inventory last several days I only find the single motor RWD model 3 listed.

There is no limit
I have previously received in 2014 and 2020 . If my Model Y gets delivered before the March deadline, I will be in line to get the credit a 3rd time
