Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Does Tesla provide dashcam option?
If not, has anyone integrated a dashcam to their system?
Amazing dash cam ability. Watch a a video or two from this YouTube channel, and I'm sure you'll be satisfied

Damn your parents f***ed up if you think a 2 door is the same number as 4 doors. Do you even know how to tie your shoes?
I'm not the one who brought up Nuburgring like it was a brag.

I was just pointing out some fool who did.

I agree, keep your grocery getter living life 1/4 mile at a time, because it is not really the performance car some try to make it out to be.

Just trying to keep the Tesla BS in check

I cannot think of a single passenger ferry off the top of my head in america that takes any cars, gasoline or EV. We have things called bridges. Its one of the reasons people own cars. They can drive them.
Man, you really need to get out more.

"In addition, your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers
You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the two years, you can claim the credit.

The credit is nonrefundable, so you can't get back more on the credit than you owe in taxes. You can't apply any excess credit to future tax years."

So I can use my AGI from 2022 and file for the $7500 federal tax credit this upcoming tax season right?

No, no change in wages. Let's say your employer is withholding $1,000 from your paycheck each month for taxes. You'd have them withhold $300 now instead, not prepaying the full amount each month. This is done via the W-4 form each employer has you fill out.
"How to Claim the Credit
To claim the credit, file Form 8936, Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit (Including Qualified Two-Wheeled Plug-in Electric Vehicles) with your tax return. You will need to provide your vehicle's VIN."

From IRS website- we can use 2022 AGI and file this with upcoming tax return ?

Generally always a bad bet to assume any hardware upgrades down the road on a Tesla. Software features, apps and games are expected, but never hardware upgrades as they are so rare. Even if they promised a hardware upgrade by an Elon tweet, you wouldn't know which year/decade it would come.

I agree it's best not to assume, but not sure I'd say rare.... certainly not possible with EVERY newer bit of HW (heat pump for example) but there's been plenty of HW upgrades that HAVE been offered for existing cars.

Every owner who bough FSD with HW2.x in it, for years, got a free upgrade to HW3 computer.

Every FSD owner with an older S/X who had 2.0 cameras got (or is in process of getting) upgraded cameras too since they had an older differently color filtered version incompatible with current FSD software.

Every OLD S/X owner, all the way back to 2012 buyers, have an option to upgrade their Tegra based media computer to a years newer Intel based one (this one isn't free, but go drive your 10 year old Lexus into the dealer and tell em you want the media computer from a years newer car swapped in at any price and watch as they laugh at you)

Every older S, X, 3, and Y owner will have the option for a CCS charging upgrade later this year (though the SC network is so good this is a relatively niche thing to really need)

Meanwhile other car makers wouldn't upgrade any HW, ever, and hell most still charge for map updates on such cars

You didn't want to go for one with Android Auto or Apple Play integration?
Trying to figure out which screen is the latest model the 9 or 10.25 inch?
Its slightly bigger than the one you posted but has bit more options and integration.

No ultrasonic parking sensors and no park assist are dealbreakers for many. This is basically a way clearance these inferior vehicles until the new hardware rolls in by June or so. And man that hardware will be sweet. Funny that the 2022 model is actually better than this first run of 2023s. New hardware should be installed by June at latest.

No, it will be filed next year with your 2023 return. But yes, you can use your 2022 AGI for qualification when you file your 2023 taxes in 2024.

Thanks, I thought I can claim this $7500 credit when I fill my 2022 tax return before April later this year. I guess I have to wait until next year then. thanks for the info.
Actually it is one of the two (2022/2023) years if I'm not mistaken.
Which ever Year your household AGI is lower than $300k, you choose that to claim it if getting vehicle before filing the taxes.
I don't find the link handy but it is mentioned either on one of the comment I read or on gov website.
Pls double check.

I like the bigger ones too, but they looked a little out of place and blocked the air vent, not that it really matters. The mini display actually looks like it came factory. It is molded into the steering column plastic. You actually replace yours with this.

Carplay and Android would be nice, but honestly is is a spare car and I don't really use it enough. 2000 miles a year

Don't get out much do you? Guess you need a geography lessen as well........North Carolina Outer Banks.

North Carolina's ferry system consists of 21 ferries and everyday service on seven regular routes across the Currituck and Pamlico sounds as well as the Cape Fear, Neuse and Pamlico rivers. Two routes – Hatteras-Ocracoke and Ocracoke-Cedar Island – are officially part of the Outer Banks National Scenic Byway.

And to avoid your next comment, yes North Carolina is part of America.

For the people bumping up against the price ceiling adding a color option and white interior and/or rims, you can order with standard black interior and add some white seat covers after.

These are nice
