Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

500 dollar increase probably give you matrix lights and next gen sensors.
Which is well worth it I suppose

anyways, bought Y on 13th, get vin a few days later and is ready to pick up this week. seems like Tesla had no issues building cars despite the increase in demand
How do we know if we're getting anything for the extra $500? I'm guessing it's the same car as everyone else who ordered earlier just an extra $500 now

They had too many and needed to move them. Now they can raise 500 bc of enough order backlog.

I see it as same build but price increase. Maybe I misread but what do you mean by increasing giving matrix lights and sensors?
well, they are upgrading front lights to matrix LED lights, and that is on going right now. currently only the performance version is guaranteed to have it, regular one is a hit or miss (more miss than hit). But tesla is in the process of phasing out the older headlight and replacement all with new matrix lights. and it is safe to assume the later you take delivery of the car, the higher chance you have. if you are buying now, it is almost a certainly that you will get matrix light.

the same goes for next gen radar sensors. the later you have the car, the higher chance you got the next gen sensor.

so ideally you want your car to be delivered late February/ early march before tax credit changes. i am actually not very happy at all when tesla changed my estimated delivery window from mid February to this week.

You don't know. It's not like they removed anything when price dropped either.

Tesla owners will sweep all federal EV credits between 2023-25 if continued this way! there is not a single competitor right now that can produce cars at the same volume and demand . guess updated guidance will come out in march to keep Tesla out again!

In their defense... Cars nowadays are much less visible. Some SUVs or sedans have rised back that made them almost impossible to park without parking assist.
That said.. it is not like they don't have back camera.
the super-sized c-pillars create huge blind spots making it feels like sitting inside a m1117.

Weird how it's ok to buy a car not knowing what you'll get.

Model 3 still same price; guess the demand for Model Y is too great.
More fam utility, albeit uglier mug. Haters will say an electric minivan can't Nurburgring in <7:30 thus instant buyer's remorse. #investment laugh out loud

A bit confused here.
I have an order but waiting for delivery.
Price went up for all orders (pending delivery too) or just new orders being placed from today forward?

Just a reminder according to some slickdealers that a $500 price raise is actually a "good thing" because lowering prices so much was "unethical and immoral"

Imagine being a slickdealer and saying the words "its unethical and immoral for a company to lower prices"

Somehow taking advantage of a price mistake at walmart for example to buy a $1000 item for $100? Good.
Company intentionally lowering prices? Bad.
