Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

but moped is 2 wheels, seats 1 maybe 2

someone purely looking for best gas mileage for a normal 2 axle vehicle a tesla is not the best choice since its still overpriced for the low range you get (realistically road trips going 75 mph they are lucky to get 240 miles if going with the suggested of not charging to 100 and not using to near empty)

some hybrids and vehicles getting 40-50mpg, gas at <$4/gal and said cars $25-35K range, the ROI will take a while for a tesla in comparison.

There are many who would be served better with a hybrid still but the pressure and hype from friends with Tesla's probably get to them to buy.
obviously someone looking at a tesla isn't looking purely at gas mileage or roi. it would be one of the factors but definitely not high on the list for majority of buyers. these are people that would have gone with one of the many luxury brands as an alternative.

a better comparison would be something like a bolt at under 30k if gas mileage and roi is priority. people don't take road trips all the time and most people have a 2nd ice vehicle and can use those if needed. even then, don't underestimate charging network for taking road trips. they have come a long way even compared to few years ago and numbers will increase exponentially especially with the inflation reduction act. i would have laughed if someone suggested buying an ev few years ago but not today.

besides, gas prices aren't going to be sub $4 forever and its already on the rise. oh and 30% discount on a vehicle like tesla doesn't hurt either.

Are that many of you really buying a $50k car without test driving one first? That is so ridiculous.

Not at all. not picking up something I would regret as an impulse buy! Car always depreciates and happy to drive my Camry!
I agree, cars depreciate & aren't an investment. You emanate what the threadpoopers (crapper is offensive) are unwilling to believe. Congrats on Camry!
