Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I did something similar 5 years ago when getting my Model 3, except I bought TSLA stock with the cash and financed the car at 2.89%. Rest is history. If return is higher, it's a no brainer.
Lol you could have bought the stock only, lot of folks buying an iPad on wheels.

I do not meet the income requirements to get me tax credit of $7500, can any of my relative buy to get tax credit $7500 and later gift car to me? Do I have to pay sales tax when gifted? Option 2, can I be co-owner and still get the tax credit based on one owner income meeting the criteria? The tax credit is for the year 2023 which we file during April 2024 right?

What's showing up on your app regarding to the new delivery estimate? I rejected mine and the Vin has been removed but nothing else.
It's showing final hold , May be they will remove hold automatically after couple of days and will search to assign new VIN, no time estimate during hold though .

This order cannot be placed on hold again. If you are unable to take the delivery of the next available vehicle, order will be canceled.
If you are ready to take delivery, tap "Remove Hold". You will receive an update when your vehicle is available.

Question for the Money heads (please don't judge my $ naivety)

What if I had the cash to buy the car, but instead took a 36-month loan from Tower @ 2.24%, and invested the cash I already have in a 3-year CD at 4.35%?

Is there a catch that I'm not seeing here?
A lot of us are planning this. Main issue is if Tower will every process and pay for your loan before your delivery. I like several others are at least week into the process and no response from them. I called and they told me it may take weeks. Some others who applied earlier where lucky. My delivery is 2/10-2/17, I have VIN but no scheduled dates yet. I am not getting my hopes up on the low interest financing with CU. If you can get it to work you don't need to tie the $ up in CD's Juno.finance is offering 5% on first 25K and there are several others in low 4% for savings account.

For those who are further in delivery process. How did you get Auto insurance to add the VIN for new car? My agent is telling me he needs a start date (delivery) and needs to know financing details. I have my VIN but not able to schedule pick up yet. Also no response from Tower CU so not sure if I am financing or not. I assume I can add the insurance details once appointment is scheduled ?

Bro in the Tesla app you dont need to put the insaurance with the tesla vin.. They just want photo of insaurance thats what i did and it says complete.. I am in NC we have 30 days after pickup to add in ins.some states covers by law for ___days its not like you need before or on same day car ins..... i will add once i take delivery..
FYI -Did get delivery date and time assigned too so dont worry

Same for tower or any bank they can do auto power checks something like that.. Which you can buy any car and put the vin later when you get vin assigned

Weeks to process an auto loan? Now 'that' sounds like a financial institution I can rely on!

It may say complete but they will likely ask you to submit insurance proof again showing you added the car to your insurance policy. See the 2nd Line says Must include " VIN of Your New Tesla" I'll just take a picture of my current one like you said just to get the box check though thanks!
