Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Hi All. I am seeing Tesla model Y with lowest price is $56,490. Looks like current price makes us ineligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit, right?

Thanks,

You have to pay tax no matter who you buy it from.
Think it might depend on your state. Here in NJ to encourage "green cars" one doesn't have to pay sales tax on EV's.

Thanks,
You might have added the upgraded wheels ($2K) and upgraded paint ($1K or 2K). Yes, that will put it too high for the tax credit.

Thanks,
you are looking at the performance, the MYLR is 53,490 and performance Y is 56,990

or you might have added extras ... do a custom order and you should see the MYLR for 53490 with no upgrades

Oh. Mine has it right there. Others have said they have it available on the Tower website and can be downloaded, but of course you will need to fill out more details. Mine has my loan officer's info, year/make/model, etc. filled in, but nothing you couldn't answer yourself if you know who your loan officer is.
Not sure if you need your loan officers info there. As for POA, you just need the organization's legal info which is their lawyer.

Just curious if anyone placed the order on 15th or later and got the VIN already? my status has not changed since more than a week, still showing delivery between Jan 29 to Feb 26. I am assuming it takes at least couple of weeks for delivery after VIN is assigned.

I live in LA...let's assume I pay $4.09/gallon, which is the cheapest in town (not including Ralphs/Shell etc...)...most people will pay close to $4.40+ because they're not driving around or using the GasBuddy app.

I drove to SB and, using the Plugshare app, was able to find DC chargers for .15/kwh...cost about $4 to put 100 miles on my car.

My ICE vehicle, a Forester, gets excellent highway mileage...about 35/mpg.

Thats around $12 for the same distance.

Last time I checked, $4 was a lot less than $12 on a percentage basis.

Even at home, with Tier 2 LADWP rates at .25/kwh, it's substantially less.

Factor in the occasional free charge at hotels with chargers (overnight stay of course), free chargers at various spots throughout the city and it isn't really a contest.
Now compare a 2023 Corolla Hybrid at base $23,000 which has more interior room, that gets 54mpg and your numbers fail big time. Fact one could buy two Corolla's for the price of the Tesla 3.

Your assessment is correct, but just wanted to add that you will have a hard time finding the Corolla Hybrid at MSRP. I live in the Central Coast of California, and dealers here are adding $2000 to MSRP.

Similar to the Ford Maverick truck hybrid, which is near impossible to find at all, and one a couple hundred miles away is $6K over MSRP.
