Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Just took delivery of the MY 7 seater white exterior with white interior and tow package. I found an inventory car, fremont with matrix lights. There weren't any obvious gaps, but there are some paint issues:

1. There is a spot a little larger than a long grain of rice that's bare metal on front door seam
2. Front and rear bumpers are different tone of white than the rest of the car, anyone else seen this?
3. half ass wash job with adhesive from protective film still in some places and plenty of dirt everywhere.

I had to drive 70 miles away to get this inventory car, so I will deal with the service centers in local Tesla centers.

If you want a Model Y, put in an order, and then call every day to see if there are inventory cars you can transfer to.
Did you have the new HD radar camera setup?

BTW don't forget to report the issues ASAP. You only have 100 miles to do so.

Question on $7500 Tax credit!

Some folks are claiming that, $7,500 can be claimed with 2022 tax filing as early credits?

My understanding is, if you purchase an eligible vehicle during 2023, you can claim $7500 in your tax filing around Q1 of 2024.

Is there any way to claim these credits early?

Nope, no other timeline to claim than filing for 2023 returns as you bought in year 2023.
For AGI based eligibility, you can use either 2022 or 2023 income, which ever helps you to qualify for the $7500 credit.

Tesla charges the local state fee for registration and new plates it's cheaper if you transfer old plates. I'll reach out to Tesla about it. If I do it later it's pointless if I am not saving any money.
That's what I thought too but I asked somebody at a different car dealership and they said it's not any cheaper if you give the registration of your old plates to Tesla.

Hopefully somebody can confirm

When I took delivery of blue MYLR last Wednesday I requested for trade-in and provided the information. The final payment was reduced for registration fees, removing around $120. At the showroom the Advisor removed my plates and put it on the new car.

They can do overnight but you should talk to them and push for it if you really need this done for timing. I think typically would take a few days with standard mailing.

I did a refinance since I already purchased. TCU is sending my loan check directly to the other credit union to pay off. That is why they have you fill out the power of attorney forms so that they can handle payment and pay off on your behalf. They don't even ask for you to provide a payoff quote, that is because they will request it directly without you.

For loan application: just front and back of DL and once approved the membership form to sign via DocuSign. For loan they want quite a few docs: payoff authorization form, power of attorney form, proof of insurance with deductibles of $500 or less, title information showing TCU as the lien holder

Apply separately for membership and your loan at the same time on their website and make a $35 donation to TowerCares. I received 2.99% for 60 months. I think they offer 72 months @ 3.49% and 84 months @ 4.99%. Lower for loans shorter than mine.
Is tower membership for only certain states ?

I only see Alabama, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Texas.

Apologies if this was answered in previous threads there is over 500+ pages now at this point. but i went through with my MYLR with tesla loan ... what is the process for Tower and am i eligible ? i am located in GA

Thank you.
When were the fees due for the plates you transferred? And how much did you pay in fees last year?

I'm also from GA. You're eligible as long as you donate to TowerCares as mentioned previously.

You'd apply for membership and apply for a used loan (if you already have your Tesla or are taking delivery soon as Tower takes some time with the recent influx of applications), respond when they reach out with the documentation needed to satisfy opening your accounts, then have your payment disbursed and Tower take over financing of your vehicle. You can view their website for rates and applying information.

No folks have claimed this.

Have your company withhold less money if you need it now.. pretty simple

Hey, thank you for your reply, but i have a question on the website i only see the following options for Tower Federal Credit Union.

So the first step is
1. donate $35 dollars to Tower cares
2. Apply for an Auto Loan
- So my MYLR delivery date is Feb 18 - March 28 ... no VIN assigned yet ... when i go to apply for a loan i see the following options ?
I would think its refinance ? as i already applied to a loan with tesla and already completed those steps ? ...
