Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Would never do anything illegal. It is fair for anyone to figure out how to LEGALLY pay the least amount of taxes.

Question about Taxes:

If my spouse and I jointly have a modified AGI > 300, but one of us has a modified AGI just below 150. We are planning to file separately for tax year 2022, to take advantage of the $7500 tax credit.
We live in California which is a Community property state. How does that change things? Would I still be eligible for the tax credit?
i think you need to do that for your 2023 tax return next year instead of 2022 in order to achieve your goal.

Why pick the new battery vs the long range?
If it has 4680 it's a structural pack which is where Tesla is going. Search YouTube to learn more. Supposedly lighter and more quiet frame. I think the 4680 is more a benefit to Tesla and their production costs than us but it isn't a negative either. It is quite a different vehicle, but Tesla wants to use the same name.

Who knows, but I think this potential plant is very good for long term investors, especially a fund company, since that's a cost cutting measure and what drives their stock. I believe they very well could close the Fremont plant since the economics of labor, regulation, taxes, no worry of unions, etc. is MUCH more attractive than CA. Add in we all know Musk is not a fan of California and certainly Newsom. I can see a plant in Mexico cranking out cars for the entry level market they want and need for growth. If indeed they do come up with a $25,000-$30,000 car, sales will explode. I'm not invested with them, but my gut is telling me to jump on this stock.
The sum total of your CA hypotheticals doesn't equal the monstrosity of CapEx, logistics, time & bad PR leaving Fremont, agree to disagree. It's the most productive auto plant in the country. Ca has 28% of all Tesla dealerships in country & sells most US cars here by a landslide. It's taken 2 1/2 years for Giga Texas to get going, just recently hitting 3k Y/week where Fremont is 12-14k total vehicles/week. They're producing more cars than when plant under GM/Toyota. In fact, they're looking to expand according to Musk and aerial footage!

The CA exodus is a myth (layoffs are good for shareholders) & Elon has has neither the sway nor plate (see failing TWTR) to make such a consequential move. CA will soon (if not already) surpass Germany's GDP.

Given this ytd run, I'd say good luck on Tesla; as of now I have only a few vert debit spreads open on weekly and will cash them out tomorrow when premium comes out of short calls.

If you get approved by underwriting tomorrow and car gets delivered after 30 days, you have to redo process. I did not know and bank did not tell me until after pulling credit and approving. My order date is same 01-17
Well a bunch of you clogged up the tower system so now i must pickup my vehicle by 2/8 and I'll certainly still be waiting on membership. So now I have to get another loan and refi later with tower. Tower has now way to expedite well qualified candidates needing a loan in a few days.

There's only one reason why Telsa reps have visited Mexico (more than once) and that's possible relocation. Companies leaving CA is real. Look at tech with the many layoffs..last year and this year 140,000. The move out will continue and one of the reasons why we went from a surplus to deficit. https://www.kron4.com/news/what-c...nce-covid/ more: https://www.newsnationnow.com/mor...te-budget/ and the sleeping giant..and a $25 BILLION deficit: https://calmatters.org/newsletter...t-deficit/

opening a new plant for the rest of the continent is not a valid reason then?
