Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

There is no 7 seat requirement under the new guidelines just announced- All Model Ys, regardless of config, qualify since the price cap on all versions is now $80,000 instead of $55,000 for some.
LMAOLMAO Thanks for that info. I have to confirm that for certain. I'd be good with getting a performance version. I have a Model Y long range on order now. Confused
Thanks again!

Ahh CRAP!! How far do I have to read back? All the performance packages (at least on model Y) were over the $55K limit as I recall.
Y is considered SUV which has a limit of 80K.

Wow, that's interesting news. And has yet to be reported by the large EV blogs. I would have ordered the Model Y Performance. Oh well, I don't really need it. Great news for others who can find existing inventory though.
Is the March rule still valid with this change?
Is it possible the Federal credit amount may change in March when more clarity is added to battery requirements?

Prepare for another influx of orders given that the IRS retroactively made all Model Ys have a $80k limit.

I guess that's what Elon's meeting at the white house last week was about.

Is it possible to change an order to inventory order instead, and not lose the $250?

I don't think that changes anything until ~March when congress meets to finalize the terms.

The only thing this new IRS website update changes is that now all Model Y's are considered SUV, and therefore has a MSRP cap of $80K.

Say if I take delivery 200 miles from my place where the MY is available and drive back, do I lose the chance of reporting any issues as the Tesla guideline says 100 miles / 24Hrs and it would be already 200 Miles as I drive back?

From Tesla website

Price Caps
The vehicle price at time of delivery must not exceed the following caps. This price includes optional equipment physically attached to the vehicle at the time of delivery and excludes software features, accessories, taxes and fees.
Model 3: $55,000
Model Y with 5 seats: $55,000
Model Y with 7 seats: $80,000
Correct. Site has not been updated. Hopefully soon.

You can find more info here: https://www.tesla.com/en_eu/support/autopilot

As with any other semi-autonomous system, lanes have to be clearly marked, or else it temporary disables the autosteer functionality.
So essentially autopilot is on par with pilot assist 2? A bit disappointed having to pay 6k for advanced pilot.

LMAOThe one I was interested in, is already gone. But now I'm thinking. If people start picking out of inventory and vacating their orders, I may get mine earlier. Confused
I'll live with the long range. Inventory only had white interior. I want black. Thanks again
