Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Hey, it's is 4k on base model only , or it also on model 3 performance? Thanks
4k if MSRP is under 45k. MSRP between 45K and 55K is 2K only.

Probably unrelated. Just more margin for Tesla to build cash reserves for another potential price cut in the future.

The name on registration could be changed, which would then be reflected on the Title. So effectively same as changing name on the order.
Thank! That helps my friend.

Would be great if folks could update the thread with the order date, estimated delivery, actual delivery date, and region so we can get a better idea of what orders are being filled. Would help those who placed orders relatively late

01/17 Minnesota order, I got my travel charger in the mail today but still no VIN. MYLR Silver with a hitch. Est date is Feb 28-Mar31. I'm hoping enough people jumped to performance today that I get bumped up a few weeks.

Feb. 7th would be the day if anything, as Tesla requested an extension to the FCC to not exhibit photos and the user manual for their "new hardware".

I believe that I'm the uneducated gentleman in question.

To be clear, this isn't a case of "I wouldn't touch another Tesla with a 10 foot pole". I might very well buy another one. I chose to drive my wife's car for a couple hours tonight instead of my own truck because it's cool to drive.

My point is really kind of hard to articulate. Basically, the Tesla occupies a weird place- it nails a lot of specs, but the areas where it falls short are traditionally fatal. Mediocre leather and other materials for the price class, weird design decisions, different shit seemingly for the sake of being different, etc would usually relegate the car to an enthusiast niche. Like all the weird Android phones from the early 2010's.

But somehow, it is not only extremely popular, the brand itself has somehow turned into (or remained as they have moved downmarket) a status symbol. The unwashed masses wont look twice at someone driving up in a $70k Toyota Sequoia, but a valet might park a $40k Model 3 in front of the building.
LMAOLMAO Tesla a status symbol?? laugh out loudlaugh out loud Valet park a Model 3 in front?? LMAOLMAOLMAO where do you live? Idaho? Montana?

After placing the order it showed March 29-31, then it updated a couple days later to Feb 28-Mar31. No updates since then.

I'm on the central coast of CA now, and was in Vegas for a decade.

I'm telling you, a huge percentage of non car people draw a solid line between "cars" and "Teslas".

Back in Vegas, at my wife's school, there were plenty of $50k+ cars in the drop off line or the parking lot. But all the teachers could talk about is how one of the other teachers must be balling out of control because she had a Tesla (model 3).
