Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Has anyone changed their original order from MYLR to MYP and already see a delivery update (without creating a new order)? Changed mine early yesterday, but still has same date range as original MYLR order.

Same here! I think it may have changed 2 weeks longer, but that's it.

For those who were able to call dealer and get an inventory vehicle attached to their order, can you please share what the process is. I see a vehicle that matches my order but when I call I get the standard response that the vehicle is designated for someone ahead of me in the order queue.

Found an available car in the online inventory within 200 miles matching my existing order, called but was told that I have to drive there to pick it up and they cannot deliver the car to my nearby tesla center. Is this normal, or should I try to call and speak with another person? Thanks!
A tesla SA should be assign the car to your nearest tesla location with additional $500 transport fee. Thats what my SA told me

It should have happened immediately. It did when I called them and asked them to attach a vehicle to my order from inventory

This was a few weeks ago. Found a car 3hrs away and asked them to attach it to my order. They offered to redirect it to my closest center (2hrs) away. To me it made no difference. They said it's not a big deal as the vehicle was still being built. Anyways they did the small move and there was no charge nor was any charge ever mentioned. But I would expect if the vehicle was already at that other location, then there would have been a charge to move it.

The representative said that the car will arrive in 2-3 weeks, so it should not arrive that other location yet. But he mentioned that the only option was to drive there and pick it up at that location.

BTW, I called the number at that location and spoke to the person there, not sure if that made any difference. Tried to call the tesla 888 number and was never able to talk with someone. Any tip to talk with tesla 888 number?

I came in the middle of this conversation. I have heard both. The year you take deliver doesn't matter and we can calculate in 2022, or 2023 taxes. But I have also been told, I have to use Tax year I took delivery of car? Are you positive? Thanks
You don't have to take my word for it, the US government has a specific page for vehicles purchased in calendar year 2023 or after: https://www.irs.gov/credits-deduc...3-or-after

"You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the two years, you can claim the credit."

Is it a Demo? Usually they can only re-route a car before it hits a destination. After that you have to go get it

Dealerships also get their pre ordered stock which can be checked normally under online inventory. This is mainly for people who visit dealership directly for booking tesla. Those cannot be shipped to your home.

Only Your personalized order made online can be shipped to your home or to your nearest dealership.

With current situation of longer wait times, if you want to take quick delivery, keep checking online inventory and book it once you see it. Most likely it will be in-transit and you will be able to get it in 2-3 weeks.

I ordered a MYLR yesterday late afternoon, with upgraded rims, it had a delivery date of March-May 2023. Didn't have a VIN assigned.

After reading this thread, I changed my order early evening (before the price increase) to the MYP. The delivery date immediately changed to February-March 2023. It was instant, as soon as I pressed the button to update the order.

Better book that online inventory one and pay $250. You will loose your earlier bookings $250 but you will get the inventory car pretty sooner (~2weeks)
