Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

You can be as loud and abusive as you want but still charging an 75KwH Tesla battery will cost you way more than 75KW on your meter. And I challenge anyone to find a single link on this issue. I am honestly curious to see it. I scoured the web and youtube and could not find one.

You comparison with gas is actually worthless gas is not sold by size of its energy but sold by the gallons.
It's nowhere near 12 to 15 percent for me in normal use. I use Tessie to track every single charge I make on my Model 3, and my losses range from 4 to 6 percent. The first attached image shows 96% efficiency charging from 9 percent to 90% (90% is my max usually set for the week).

The second attached image shows 96% efficiency going from 47% to 100% (when I was going on a long trip).

I used to charge my model 3 and got similar. The only way watts can go to waste is if they turn into heat. The charger never got hot and the fans never kicked on in the car unless it was very hot out and it needed to cool down the battery for a 90%+ charge which i almost never did (very rare if you have a garage)

Hi I saw someone mentioned steps to apply TFCU loan application but couldn't find one now.

I have paid $35 donation and went straight to Apply loan. I got email saying my application is under review. Loan application seemed does not have any mention or links to donations.

When do I apply for membership?

Got my VIN for Austin MYSR but the delivery window is 02/16-03/16. Can I still benefit from the tax break if the delivery is after 03/01? If not, can I cancel my order after providing my registration detail?
Sorry, if this was already answered before
Yes, there is a chance for you to still benefit and or cancel. Technically the IRS plans to announce updates to the Federal tax incentive in March but they haven't specified when in March. Basically, you have until the announcement to get the vehicle to guarantee you get the current tax benefit (factoring the other current qualifiers). Additionally, if your vehicle is ready for pickup after the IRS announced changes +effective date on these changes, you can actually just refuse your delivery at the initial pickup appointment at a Tesla location. In this scenario you will just lose your non-refundable $250 deposit for the car. There is also potential for the IRS to extend the tax credit longer or potentially make the terms "more strict" so it's just a waiting game at this point. Hope this made sense!

In my original post I said you cannot lock your Tesla without opening an app if you are 3 feet away and that is because Tesla does not give you a keyfab that everyone else does.

Unlocking a phone, opening an app, going through options to lock a car is NOT the same as convenience of a single button on a keyfab.
Who wants to carry around keyfob after driving a Tesla?

Half of the argument on EVs being more cost effectiveis outright laughable. Sometimes I feel like in Kindergarten being bullied for a gummy 🪱. For starters
Gas / Hybrid costs at least 15 to 30k cheaper than EV. Even at Gas being 6/ Gallon it would take 2.5 to 5 years for burning through that initial cost.

Then the Solar/wall BS, a basic 12 / 14Kwh system with 2 walls current cheapest is around 50k after 30% Fed Texas 35k to be breakeven one has charge/live in that house for at least 15years. Let them first understand what is Sunk cost / Depreciation before they start blabbering, About how EV is great, I am all for making planet greener, Ev market is not the only answer atleast in its current upfront costs.

So much wrong

A comparable Gas/hybrid car is not 15-30k cheaper, especially hybrid

You also do not need to get solar for your EV

Stop lying. At least 3750? Lol

The price is decreased by 11K instead of 13k

The deal is still alive. The price needs to be updated though

your explanation is wrong. this is your situation.

your withheld (pre-pay tax) from your paychecks was 10k. you owed 9k in federal tax. so your return in tax was 8.5k because the government used your 7.5k credit first....then returned 8.5k from your 10k withheld money.
Exactly... People are only thinking about their refund, if they get $500 back at the end of the year they think they won't qualify because they didn't owe over $7500.
