Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Did your MYP come with matrix headlights? Is it an Austin or Fremont build?

I started on 1/20. The LO I was assigned to went on vacation but hurried me through the same day she got back. Underwriting took an add'l 6 days after LO transferred me to that Dept.
You're saying you first applied for membership on 1/20?

I applied for membership on 1/18 and it still shows as "referred." GCFCU hasn't reached out to initiate membership nor have they responded to any request in the online application portal.

Ya I had heard MYP from Fremont might not have matrix. It's odd these cars have so much variation. I'll be test driving a MYP so I can compare

Thanks for the reply. I've spoken to Tower twice and both times they have been very nice about the situation that they have an overwhelming amount of applicants and they can't fast track me. I am preapproved but still waiting on membership. Currently I've heard nothing from them and it has been 7 business days.
I pickup my MYLR on Wednesday (unless I switch to a MYP-still debating) and I moved around some things so I can just pay Tesla in cash. Gotta figure out how they want me to do that. Then I'll refi with tower whenever they reach out to me. Hopefully my vehicle passes my 100 point inspection lol. Did yours? Did you decide to start paying immediately or wait 90 days?
I ended up cancelling my reservation for a MYLR and got an Ioniq 5. No particular reason other than I like the design of the Ioniq more. Best of wishes to you during inspection!

I went with the 90-day option as there is no penalty for prepayment. I may start paying this month or I might take that same cash and drop it in a high-yield savings paying 3.30% or a 11-month CD paying 5.00%.

Regarding the Matrix headlights, what should I look for when taking delivery? How can I tell if my MYLR Silver/Black&White has the Matrix lights?
Thanks.

Are you sure? This would be the first Freemont build we've heard not come with matrix lights since December or so. I can saw all dozen or so long range (and one performance) I saw over the weekend had matrix. They were all PF663xxx with the performance being a PF665xxx.

It has a projector (circle) on the far outside of the headlight vs a reflector (being phased out). Currently it appear they are only on Fremont vehicles MYLR (possibly on MYP but unlikely). I'm not sure about MYAWD out of Texas.

You raise a service request via the app. You can put the panel gap specifics in the notes.

Have you taken a look at the new Lexus RZ being released this year? https://www.lexus.com/future/RZ?pdsrch=SEM:700000001228668:GOOGLE:71700000091780883:5870000773167031... [lexus.com]

Lexus just released specs and pricing.

It's hilariously terrible.

The base model is $59,650 before options, and offers 220 miles of range.

That's almost $5000 more than the 330 mile LR Model Y.

Even more embarrassing, the "luxury" trim of the Lexus is $65,150 before options and offers 196 miles of range

In 2023.

Toyota/Lexus is Nokia in the late 2000s right now reacting with utter incompetence to the iphone.
