Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

It seems like the CVRP rebate will be available for Model 3 and Model Y vehicles purchased after 1/12/2023

https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/en...la-model-y
Crap I think it's based on income in order to qualify for the CVRP rebate. It looks like $200k max income for joint filers?

On February 28, 2023, the increased rebate amounts will be updated to:
$7,500 for battery-electric vehicles (previously $4,500)
$7,500 for fuel cell electric vehicles (previously $7,000)
$6,500 for plug-in hybrid vehicles (previously $3,500)

it would be better to wait.
I think it is good info for people who may have already taken delivery that the rebate is retroactive. From what I understand, the previous belief was that you had to take delivery after the Tesla is added back to the eligible vehicle list. Based on the updated website, the vehicle just needs to be eligible within 90 days of your delivery. As of today, it's still not on the list but there's hope everyone who purchased after 1/12/2023 can be eligible.

Ya HW4 in 2024 but won't be as polished as HW3 is until 2025 and then why not just wait for HW5 in 2026 which will allow Teslas to fly
It was said pretty clear that he does not need a new car now. Speculation is that he probably did not qualify the $7500 either. So I don't see anything non logical parts in his statement.

A lot people waited two+ years from 2020 to 2023 and they really benefited from it right?

It's pretty hard to tell where he is filming. It appears underneath the car, next to the wheel, essentially where the axel used to be?

An additional $2,500 is only available to consumers with annual household incomes less than or equal to 300 percent of the federal poverty level (FPL).

i am sure there is a lot of smart folks here can make that work, but the limit is too low for most who are on W-4.

just a reference, you need to make no more than 130k for a household of 8. and for each additional person, your limit goes up by $13,260.

Lexus just released specs and pricing.

It's hilariously terrible.

The base model is $59,650 before options, and offers 220 miles of range.

That's almost $5000 more than the 330 mile LR Model Y.

Even more embarrassing, the "luxury" trim of the Lexus is $65,150 before options and offers 196 miles of range

In 2023.

Toyota/Lexus is Nokia in the late 2000s right now reacting with utter incompetence to the iphone.
It's apples and oranges. Tesla is bad at the things Toyota is good at. (Panel gaps, etc).

I think that $/mile of range is an important metric, but if the RZ has a more comfortable cabin and better build quality (which it almost certainly will) it will find an audience.

I was approved at 2.99 and then she said "with the promotion going on, you're rate will be 2.49". I then asked if that included the .25 reduction for having direct deposit and she said "2.49 is the base percentage, so no, 2.49 is the lowest". I'm good with that 😀. She said 72 months is 3.99 and with promotion it will be 3.49. So depends on what you need.

This is so cool. She just picked up her new Tesla today and already knows how the auto-pilot feature works.
