Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Tesla would have sold a lot more cars if Musk would just stay away from Twitter.

No, they wouldn't have. They literally could not have

Because they already sell all the cars they can make, despite increasing that output an average of 50% every year for almost a decade now.

I'm not suggesting he didn't say dumb stuff that turned a lot of people off. But there were no "more" cars for Tesla to have sold if he hadn't.... demand continues to, significantly, exceed supply.

That's true for ALL decent EVs, not just Tesla... and will continue to be true for years as EVs entirely replace ICE vehicles throughout the next 5-10 years. The main difference is Teslas supply is much larger than everyone elses.

Ford was #2 in US EV sales in 2022 for example... and their total sales for the year was roughly as many EVs as Tesla built in 2 weeks, same year.

I don't know where you live, but CA has the following law:

"California Legislature passed AB 2565 in 2014. Codified at California Civil Code section 1947.6, the new law creates a procedure requiring landlords to accept tenants lawful written requests to install EV charging stations and their related infrastructure. Today, California tenants have the right to install equipment to charge their electric cars."
I live in Virginia and thanks for the info! I will check with my leasing office.

It can be argued that even if those were software locked, one may have higher durability due to less load percentage.
I mean, would you not taking the 980 over 990 if the choice is available to you at no cost?
Not to mention the ghost modification on the 980s.

Some of those states have adopted the ZEV program, so those cars are allocated for those states only.

Like any credit union, you need to open up a savings account with them. You could just put $5 in there, but they pay over 6% on the first thousand in there.
Must be a saving? Can it also be checking? I did just the checking when I apply, should I add saving as well?

So you are saying that Tesla would have sold 2x more cars if Musk stayed away from Twitter. I call bullshit on that.

I do agree that there certainly are a lot of political bigots, though. If people didn't hate Musk after the Thailand rescue comments but hate him now, they probably fall into that category.
How did you come up with 2X?

I live in an apartment and no way to charge at home. Guess I will have to use the supercharger stations Smilie Switching from a 2013 Camry btw.
Thats me too! I have a sc like 10 mins away which I plan to use exclusively.

I have been reading that always sc charging can be bad for batteries. Not sure though.

BTW I'm getting the 3rwd which has lfp batteries.

Always supercharging can indeed be harder on the battery... on the bright side, the LFP batteries are much more durable so should be less of a concern.

And "harder" is relative too--- a service that runs luxury limo type service in Teslas and supercharged 100% of the time, on older S/X battery tech, still got hundreds of thousands of miles before significant battery degradation... the newer 2170, and especially the LFPs, ought to be fine LONG past anyone is likely to own the thing.

Yikes. I've been ignoring the pre-delivery tasks. Placed my order on 1/20 and the delivery estimate hasn't changed from "January - March 2023". Now I'm wondering if I actually have not been in line this entire time...

Does anyone else have more insight on this? Has anyone received their VIN without completing any of the pre-delivery tasks?
