Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Yikes. I've been ignoring the pre-delivery tasks. Placed my order on 1/20 and the delivery estimate hasn't changed from "January - March 2023". Now I'm wondering if I actually have not been in line this entire time...

Does anyone else have more insight on this? Has anyone received their VIN without completing any of the pre-delivery tasks?
DP:

Ordered 1/15 late evening - MYLR White, all standard options
Current EDD: Feb 16-Mar 16

Had finished all pre-delivery steps within few days of booking, but have been waiting for co-registrant since

No VIN assigned

Remove co-registrant.
Pre-delivery steps were updated, suddenly asking for additional loan info (since i had selected self arranged).

Switched to Tesla loan, credit hit on Equifax from US Bank (and not Wells Fargo), approved within couple of minutes

Still no change to delivery date or VIN.
Schedule tab: Check back later

Everyone should just wait until march 1st to see what the announcement is, if you haven't already ordered. Most likely you won't get the car on time any way if you purchased now.

I picked up my MYLR 19" wheels yesterday. The ride is a lot more rough than I remember from the short little test drive I did at a local used car dealership. I know people are saying that these have a new updated comfort suspension. I can't imagine how rough the ride would be without that.

When did you order the MY and what's your location

Any suggestions on whether it's preferable to charge the car outside the house (for risk of bursting/short circuit) or inside the garage. I bought Tesla wall charger and looking to install it. Also any idea how much does it cost to install? I am in central NJ

The window should tighten when you do the todo items in the Tesla app. At least, that's what I noticed in the past.
I Finished all the tasks in the tesla app still showing the same EDD date 02/18 - 03/25

You need to at least do the registration step to get in line as that tells Tesla which location they need to deliver it to

I have Family who have been charging 2 Tesla's inside their garage for 10 plus years
Have friend who recently got Model X and charges outside(his garage is full of stuff so not sure if that is reason)
All my neighbors charge inside garage

I am also in CNJ, installation cost will vary significantly based on Licensed electrician and distance from Panel (I am getting a quote early next week from a referred Licensed electrician)

ChargeUP NJ will not give you rebate for Tesla charger
Get Juicebox from Costco for $599 and you will get $250 back from ChargeUp NJ
JCPL(First Energy) will give you upto $1500 installation cost credit on your bill if you install approved charger like Juicebox(not Tesla) and 2c per KWH discount offpeak charging

EVs catch on fire roughly 10x less often than gasoline cars (and even less often than that if you exclude Chevy Bolts that had a defective, different type, of battery than Tesla uses). Did you park your gas car in your garage previously?

That said- unless you're sure what you're doing, have the charger professionally installed in either case. It's much more common for a fire to come from bad wiring jobs than an EV.

Anybody get finance from DCU? What rates are they offering these days? On their website its 5+ but I hear they reduce to as low as 2.5 when you apply.

4.99% - My check arrived yesterday. It could be another 0.25% less if you were buying an EV from a traditional dealer and use the car buying service.

For reference, my other two Teslas with DCU are 1.49% and 1.74%, but of course I didn't get the loan in 2022-3.
