Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

The standard range ones that pop up in inventory in my area are shown as coming soon with a future build date within the coming week, as opposed to available on the lot. Not sure about anywhere else. Seems folks snatch them up before they arrive though. I saw somewhere that if you reserve one of those arriving soon to your area it takes about a week or two for delivery. Tesla just dropped another 200+ and they'll probably all be reserved come morning.

I've thought about what if news breaks that the tax credit is reduced to $3,500 or $0 for the Model Y, Would I jump on a local inventory MY the same day to get delivery in time for the tax credit? Right now they don't have any MY available at my local sales center except a red 7 seater with white interior. The options are $6k more than what I ordered so that eats into the tax savings.

Unfortunately, it's anyone's guess how much notice we will get before the change in tax credit takes affect. I'm not going to quote it right but I recall reading on here and some IRS or Treasury document that the change would take effect the day after the proposed guidance is released. So do we all have to make a run on existing inventory the day of release to beat the change? Will the Treasury allow for a deadline of a future date like March 31 or June 30 so taxpayers have adequate notice of the change? No one knows.

Realistically it will take manufacturers time to assess how their products align with the elements of the proposed guidance once issued. Ideally the IRS would give them a deadline to do that so that customers can be informed of what a certain vehicle qualifies for credit-wise. Otherwise, people would be ordering/buying cars without the knowledge of how much tax credit is available on that car (assuming one qualifies). That would be interesting for sure - will have my popcorn ready.
Exactly, good info!

I order a MY LR (the grey color) and everything else stock on 1/29. EDD is 4/2 to 5/14. If theres no tax credit ($7k is alot of money); might cancel the order and take the $250 lost

And those two deep pockets in the Trunk on each side. I think I want something to fill those in, like storage boxes with lids that sit flush with the rest of the trunk floor.

Something like this:

Those are expensive everywhere... I just don't get why.

Update
MYLR 19 Blue, ordered 16th afternoon, for a long time EDD was Feb 16 to March 16th. Lots of activity today including being a signed a VIN and EDD Fab 12 to Feb 20.
Got my 4.5% check from local credit union, might try for the refi from Tower.
Got my insurance updated, premium actually went down, not up.

About $20-$25 shipped each on Ali. I would wait a bit, as some of the reviews complain that the right side doesn't fit as well. Left side fits like a glove though. Not sure if the 23 models are slightly different in fit. Certainly not worth $80 for 2 though.

I want to change the color of my y. My date keeps moving. First it was Feb 20-march 20 then Feb 5-feb18 then every day since it just creeps up feb6-18, feb7-18,etc. Would a color change effect the delivery date? I haven't been assigned a vin so I assume the car is nowhere near being in production.

Anyone planning to get PPF and/or Ceramic coating done on your Model Y? I am not sure if I should go for it. It's a lot of money. Any suggestion?

Yes, I did everything in the Tesla app.

Did you download the Tesla app and update the registration details and stuff? I think that is a prerequisite.

Got my white MYLR standard today (MA). Austin build so no matrix lights but build quality is nice, suspension - dont know the comfort or not, but quite smooth than the test drive/my friends 2022 freemont. My battery was about 47% but they kept in supercharger till the paper works and i left at 81%. Installed a 3d mats at delivery location itself. Only thing that sucks youtube music - no app, even while using the browser stops while driving, ended up using apple music (trial).

Same time another person was picking a grey MYLR, which is freemont built (ordered same date as mine) which had matrix lights and no panel gaps, but the car door was very hard to close (when they closed, it didnt close fully, need to re-open and close very hard - i tested too and way harder than mine). They come from too far and happy to still take it as the tesla guy said new can be hard and soon it will be alright !( may be they will get used).

All cars had PPF/front flaps/trunk dividers/carpet mats.

Yeah, I saw that too. Some of them (on aliexpress) specifically call out for 2022 only or China made only. I'm just gonna wait because I'm not in a hurry.
