Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

They're doubling it this year. As already mentioned to you.

I mean, they didn't HAVE to--- but unlike all other car makers, they could do this to, once again, improve owner experience with an OTA update.

Not only does Tesla know exactly how many vehicles are charging at each location. It also knows the charge level of each vehicle and it could estimate the wait time for a Supercharger based on how many Teslas are nearby with a low state of charge.

Based on all of this information Tesla can come up with great suggestions on the best place to charge to reduce your overall trip time.

Weird you'd try and paint a significant improvement in user experience as "so bad"-- especially given every other brand of EV charger is drastically worse (EA especially being famous for people arriving at a station- the only one they can even reach- and finding it not working at all with no notice)

"Tesla made the best charging experience in the industry even better- how awful!"

**not actually factual.

What ACTUALLY happens is it sets your default charge limit to 80%.

If you need more you just slide the limit on the car screen- or the app- to a higher number- including up to 100%.

Of course it does. Batteries charge slower at the top end of the range... so if you don't actually NEED more than 80% (and you don't unless you're driving like 500+ miles in a single day which is rare) then it makes sense to default to 80.... and you can slide it up to 90 or 100 or whatever if you want.

Again you paint a simple, obvious, not-an-acutal problem AS a problem because you do not understand how any of this works.

Quite the opposite given how quickly they are expanding the charging network-- especially with billions in government funds now making the expansion even quicker.

There's a reason folks with other EVs are desperate to access Teslas charging network- it's by far the best in the world.

Tesla Inc. has unnerved some of its customers with a decision to open up parts of its exclusive Supercharger network to other electric vehicles, with some fretting about future wait times to recharge their cars.

John Sergeant, a Tesla owner in Seattle, said Superchargers in his city are already overrun with demand and that opening up the network to others will compound the problem.

Tesla has said it is aware of congestion and longer wait times for chargers at certain locations. In some cases, the company deploys mobile Superchargers to add capacity or employs pricing strategies to encourage more off-peak use to mitigate wait times, the company has said.

Awesome thank you so much I jus got the VIN

MYLR
White/Black
No Upgrades
Order date: 01/17
Decatur, GA

Quick question: I hear alot of people not making payment till they check the car did you do the same or did u pay before hand ?
I had the cashiers check for my payment and told them I will hand it off once I am done with checking the car. They did initial paperwork so they can let me access the car. Once I was done SA came and he took the check and I accepted the car in the app. He helped with adding my phone as key. It was less than 5 mins for the last part.

Good luck.

Yes- lot's of people have irrational worries unsupported by any facts, math, or evidence.

This is a great example of such an irrational worry.

As you've already been shown the math on. Multiple times.

Even moreso when you actually read the announcement and see they're only opening select locations to other brands--- and it's not like they don't know which ones have extra capacity available.

Which part, specifically, do you still not understand?

Passenger door is a totally different white color. I don't even know how that's possible on a new car.

Just got a call from GCFCU and missed it which I call back and now I am waiting to talk to a manager. After 2 weeks of applying for membership and then several days of after applying for the loan this call came. They didn't leave a message or send any emails which made me a little upset I didn't hear my phone. 🤬
They didn't send you an email with the request of information that they need?

Anyone here successfully did a loan from GCFCU? Do they require a POA form just like Tower does?

Hi, I need some advise. I just recently bought 2022 chevrolet equinox (suv) in december. Is it worth selling that at a $3k loss and spending $20k more (after all rebates) to get the model Y SR?

Your preference, your money 👉your decision.

Doesn't look different in the picture...

Tesla only has one color of white FWIW-- Pearl White Multi-Coat- the other available colors are midnight silver metallic, deep blue metallic, solid black, and red multicoat-- so if you're suggesting they put on a door from another car in a different color white paint- that's not possible since there is no other white for that car.

Though that at least would be "normal" for a factory error... things like mismatched trim/color using actual existing other trims/colors happens to everyone once in a while- Some examples:

BMW delivered with two different interior trims-

Ford delivering with mismatched seats:

GMC- where they DO have 2 different whites and mismatched body panels with one of each:

Chrysler- mismatched exterior trim:

Ordered MYLR base 01/14 1pm EST North Carolina and I am picking up this weekend.

For new cars' autopilot function, will the cameras start self calibrating themselves and I don't have to select options on the touchscreen? Thanks.
If you are picking up in Raleigh, would love to hear your experience on the delivery and any tips.
I am picking M3P on Monday.

I am still waiting for VIN MYLR 5 seat with white seats. TESLA definitely screwed up fifo or queue system when it comes to orders. Lot others got delivery who ordered way later than me.
