Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

If anyone is interested in hard numbers to figure out how much less expensive it is now compared to Tesla's best deal of 2022 - $7,500 discount with 10,000 free Supercharger miles - I bought a Tesla Model Y Long Range 7-Seater with white interior in late December 2022.

Excluding taxes and fees, I paid $63,940. It's now $59,630, which is $4,310 less, and it is eligible for the $7,500 tax credit. That means if I didn't buy it in December and bought it today, I would have saved $11,810 + sales tax, so a bit over $12,000 in savings I missed. (I got 10,000 Supercharger miles, which is worth somewhere between $500 and $1,000.) With taxes and fees, I paid $71,578.55 in total.

For those who do order, I recommend this Tesla Prep guide [glideapp.io] to check for build quality issues on delivery day.

I hope this helps,

Tesla plans to add a new radar product to its vehicles in mid-January, according to documents posted with the Federal Communications Commission.

The disclosure, which was first reported by Electrek, comes as the company faces scrutiny over the safety and capabilities of its standard advanced driver assistance system known as Autopilot and the $15,000 optional upgraded product branded as "Full Self-Driving." Tesla FSD beta software offers some automated driving features but is not a self-driving system.

The luxury EV-maker has long claimed it could reach full autonomy through a "vision only" approach that shuns other sensors like lidar and radar in favor of cameras and a deep neural network that quickly processes a vehicle's surroundings and responds in real time. Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously promised to "solve" full self-driving by the end of this year (he's also promised Tesla would get there every year for roughly nine years now). He has recently admitted the problem will take longer to solve.

And perhaps, as every other autonomous vehicle technologist says, it's not actually achievable yet through cameras alone.

The company began removing radar from its vehicles last May. In October, Tesla removed its 12 ultrasonic sensors from Model 3 and Model Y vehicles built for North America, Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Ultrasonic sensors measure distance via ultrasonic waves and are used as proximity sensors to support anti-collision safety systems, particularly in parking use cases.

Now it appears radar is back. It's not yet clear which models will get the new radar. The type of radar Tesla intends to market next year is of a frequency that's allocated by the FCC for ADAS use cases, according to Ram Machness, chief business officer at Arbe Robotics, which produces ultra-high-resolution 4D imaging radar.

Tesla had originally filed with the FCC to use the new radar — which is described in filings as "76-77 GHz Automotive Radar" — in its vehicles back in June.

"From the frequency of operation (76-77GHz) as well as the mechanical design of the sensor from Tesla's FCC filing, it appears that this radar would be utilized in ADAS applications," Steven Hong, VP and general manager of radar technology at semiconductor company Ambarella, told TechCrunch.

He noted that while the performance of this "edge" radar sensor will be limited, it's a positive development that Tesla is looking to add radar to its perception stack for safety-critical, robust performance.

Earlier this year, the FCC had granted a confidential treatment to Tesla in order to keep the details of the new radar under wraps. Late last month, Tesla applied to extend that confidentiality treatment another 60 days from its date of expiration, which is December 7.

i hope this answers your question

edit: ACTUAL LINK TO DEAL https://www.tesla.com/modely/design (SD's link goes to existing inventory page)
Wayback Machine if anyone wants to do some research: https://web.archive.org/web/20220...ely/design

I'll throw out some notable 'milestones' , focusing only on the Model Y LR base model:

* Feb 2021 - $49,000 - Roughly the lowest price for the Y LR (not including the SR @ $42k)
From this point forward, Tesla started increasing the price about $1-2 every month or so, until it peaked out at $66,000. Ex:
* May 2021 - $51,000
* July 2021 - $53,000, etc...
* Feb 2022 - $59,000, etc...
* July 2022 - $66,000 <-- peak
* Dec 1 2022 - $66,000 (-$3750 credit/refund)
* Dec 15 2022 - $66,000 (-$7500 credit/refund)
* Jan 1 2023 - $66,000 back to peak (-$7500 fed tax credit only on 7-seater)
* Jan 13 2023 - $53,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Jan 23 2023 - $53,500 (-$7500 fed tax credit on base model + 7-seater but not performance)
* Feb 4 2023 - $55,000 (-$7500 fed tax credit on all models)

I am still waiting for VIN MYLR 5 seat with white seats. TESLA definitely screwed up fifo or queue system when it comes to orders. Lot others got delivery who ordered way later than me.
Most likely depend on the configuration and optional that some get one earlier than other.

Anyone here successfully did a loan from GCFCU? Do they require a POA form just like Tower does?
They don't require one. I signed my loan docs yesterday around 5 pm and the poa was included in the docusign.

Ordered 1/16. White with black interior. Picking it up today. Mine moved pretty fast. Got a notification for VIN on 2/13. Was actually available for pick up 2/15. But I chose weekend (2/18) due to loan processing delay.

You should get yours anytime now

Just got a call from GCFCU and missed it which I call back and now I am waiting to talk to a manager. After 2 weeks of applying for membership and then several days of after applying for the loan this call came. They didn't leave a message or send any emails which made me a little upset I didn't hear my phone. 🤬
They are closed on Monday for the holiday. You'll have to wait for them to call you back because they'll verbally ask you for the addl docs they need and then give you their email to send it to.

Ps if you are aiming for the 2.49 rate, you'll need to either put down 20% or have your direct deposit pre received in the checking acct before they'll do final approval. If you are ok with the 2.99 rate, no worries! This applies to all terms 60 months and down as the 72 month is a different rate.

What documents do they request? I want to get a head start on putting these together. Thanks in advance!

Doesn't look different in the picture...

Tesla only has one color of white FWIW-- Pearl White Multi-Coat- the other available colors are midnight silver metallic, deep blue metallic, solid black, and red multicoat-- so if you're suggesting they put on a door from another car in a different color white paint- that's not possible since there is no other white for that car.

Though that at least would be "normal" for a factory error... things like mismatched trim/color using actual existing other trims/colors happens to everyone once in a while- Some examples:

BMW delivered with two different interior trims-
https://www.bimmerfest.com/thread...up.403505/

Ford delivering with mismatched seats:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Justroll...lled_into/

GMC- where they DO have 2 different whites and mismatched body panels with one of each:
https://www.carscoops.com/2020/09...int-color/

Chrysler- mismatched exterior trim:
https://www.carscoops.com/2021/01...headlamps/
It does look different.

The Reddit post had 2 or 3 more pictures and you can clearly see that they may have missed a coat or two as the tone of the white is definitely different.

Fast is relative, OD 1/17, VIN assigned Feb 2. Asked pickup Feb 3. Actual pickup Feb 4. Not an inventory, totally throw me out of pace to end up with cash payment. Living 18 miles away from Fremont.
