Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

I'm confused as to how that solves the situation. When your pre-approval rate expires then you can't get the same rate anymore correct?

What's the plan for the deliveries after March 1st and IRS removes the incentive? I'm currently on a Tesla loan, and delivery is supposed to occur between 02/28-03/07. Is it easy to pull out, considering the date is too close now?

That's myq themselves explaining it.

You get 30 days free, then need to pay MyQ for either a 1, 5, or 10 year subscription plan priced at $45/yr, $179/5 yr, or $299 for 10 years.
Today I just tried out the myq thing with Tesla and stopped right before the trial subscription. I have a phone to open and close the door and don't really want pay that much for integration.

$2 per month I could pay up to.

If you are not sure what happens, then on the day of your pickup check if the tax credit is applicable and then make your own decision.

Nobody knows on what date in March the IRS will issue the guidance, and nobody knows if it will remove any of the tax credit.

It's most likely it removes either 0 or half of it for most Teslas at least, with the SR Model 3 being the most at risk of losing all of it.

But yes as noted you can simply decide not to buy it and you're only out the $250 order fee.

I used MyQ app on the phone.
I'm very disappointed because even my old car 2009 van can have "integrated" homelink to control the garage.
Or just use the remote that came with the garage if you don't want to pay extra.

Picked up the MYP today, besides small swirl marks and scuffs here and there, everything else was great, there are some small small panel gap but nothing out of the ordinary, paint was great, head lights aligned perfectly. I think I got a unicorn.

Oh and it came with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 instead of the shitty Pirelli

Can anyone offer me advice about protecting the car finish by getting it ceramic coated as soon as I take delivery?

There is a company called Alset, that operates in a lot of cities, that charges an outrageous $1199. They specialize in Teslas and I am not buying their story, but wonder if I should put a ceramic finish on it as soon as I get it (DD is 3/7). I think I can get it done for maybe $200 - $300.

I love how you can just predict the future and just guarantee that the IRS is going to issue guidance on March 1st. We have no idea if the IRS will even be ready in March for the battery mineral guidelines since they know it will hurt US automakers. Everyone acts like the US government has been quick to implement policy on rule changes. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if halfway through March, the IRS comes out and says the battery mineral guidelines got pushed back to April or May.

My TFCU agent told me today that they are extending the 30 day rate lock because of their backlog. I will be picking up my car 1 day late and she said that was no problem. I got the impression that if it was delayed due to them - then they would still honor the rate, no matter how late.

That is nice of them to do that. Hopefully that is the case.
