Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Hello, I have a MYLR being delivered 3/18 in Jacksonville, FL.

Can the dealership offer instant tax credit rebate if I am playing full out of pocket?

Thinking: If EV credits are reduced by IRS by 50% this month, there is a possibility of Musk offering prices reduced on MYLR below the 52990 initial offer in Jan. Maybe $51990? Any thoughts? I have reservation at 54990 base model MYLR. I wanted different color with white interior without any software upgrades. MA 55k cap limited me to base model colors. Delivery date at present is April 23-June 4. Again, any thoughts on price going down given stock taking a hit on declining sales at that time along with increase in interest rate. Thanks!
A lot of IFs man. The interest rate going up isn't going to stop people from buying a Tesla as much as any reduction in the IRS tax credit would have a bigger impact. However i think even if the IRS tax credit reduced to $3750, it is still a good price given what those have paid in 2022. I don't think it will be a drastic drop in cancellations especially if for some reason there is confirmation of perhaps HW4 installed or at least some parts like the HD Radar installed in late May to June time frame. I still think HW4 for the Model Y won't be until late Q3 to Q4 but you never know with Tesla.

I think right now they will either stand pat or increase prices but to assume they will drop below the $52990 just cause you think it is not selling... I don't see that happening. They know that $52990 is a sweet spot and Tesla will for sure retest that level again just to weigh the demand and its no different than retesting support for a stock before it needs to drop further.

Schedule to delivery on March 6th on the app. Called ahead to confirm I can pickup earlier ( March 4th). Car is Austin built. Glovebox is not working, sesame seed size intact red spot on right passage side door. Financed with local MCU at 3.5% for 60 months.

Negative....the system does not have the capability to give you the instant tax credit in 2023. That perk only begins in 2024 for all car dealerships and I will bet you the system is going to be clunky for the first 1 or 2 months even when it is implemented because it has never been done before. The EV tax credit has always been claimed via filing your taxes the next year.

Either way you still have to qualify for the income limits so even if you do get the instant tax credit but later find out that you do not qualify, you will have to pay back that tax credit anyways.

I purchased Model Y AWD (Standard range). When i put the VIN for Tesla insurance it shows as Long range in the policy. I am wondering if the range is software locked. Is there any other way to check?

When is your EDD and also what state are you living in? I mean CU rates can vary based on state or region since most CUs only allow residents within the county to sign up for the CU.

You can also call your local Tesla dealership and have them look up your reservation and you can specifically tell them which date and time do you want. The advice is just tell them what you want and not let them decide for you. If you are suppose to pick up this upcoming Friday but you prefer to pick it up on Wed or Thu at say 2 PM, just tell them that and see what they say. At the end of the day your availability is probably the most important as the Tesla dealerships are all busy everywhere and they will find a way to squeeze you in to finalize a pickup delivery.

Have you looked at any of the CA CUs? I am sure there are some that have ok rates. The other option is to do Tesla financing if you run up against your EDD and then refinance your loan afterwards.

On a side note—Tesla cuts prices on Model S and Model X:
Tesla's website showed it had cut prices on both versions of its Model S by $5,000. The basic version of Model S was cut by 5% to $89,990, while the price of the performance, Plaid variant was cut by 4% to $109,990.

Prices of both the performance and basic variants of Model X cars were cut by $10,000, the electric vehicle maker's website showed. The price of the basic, AWD version of the Model X was cut by 9% to $99,990 while its performance Plaid version was cut by 8% to $109,990.
Makes me wonder if if Musk will slash prices on MYLR / P on any rollback from IRS guidance on cutting the fed tax incentive. Orders would go down for sure. Any thoughts? Thank you.

The rates for local CU isn't that much better. Maybe 1% lower than tesla. At that point is it even worth going with a CU?
