Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

The rates for local CU isn't that much better. Maybe 1% lower than tesla. At that point is it even worth going with a CU?
Yes it is still worth it if it is at least 1% for sure if you mean 4.50% CU vs. 5.59% (Tesla financing). Use an Auto Loan calculator to punch in the anticipated loan amount and see the difference. It also depends on how much you are financing. If you are financing $40K to $45K a 1% difference is still worth doing. The amount of work you need to do to complete Self Loan financing is not that hard on the app and its much easier to do it now than it is later since you would need to take a hard inquiry hit anyways.

I do see this one CU but not sure if it is worth trying because the membership seems a bit tricky. It does look like you can be a member for the annual basic membership at $65.

On a side note—Tesla cuts prices on Model S and Model X:
Tesla's website showed it had cut prices on both versions of its Model S by $5,000. The basic version of Model S was cut by 5% to $89,990, while the price of the performance, Plaid variant was cut by 4% to $109,990.

Prices of both the performance and basic variants of Model X cars were cut by $10,000, the electric vehicle maker's website showed. The price of the basic, AWD version of the Model X was cut by 9% to $99,990 while its performance Plaid version was cut by 8% to $109,990.
Makes me wonder if if Musk will slash prices on MYLR / P on any rollback from IRS guidance on cutting the fed tax incentive. Orders would go down for sure. Any thoughts? Thank you.
Keep on wishing… I'll see you next year or maybe the year after.

Their only reason to cut prices by $13k in January is to make the model Y eligible. They have since increased it by $2,500.

They have orders booked for 2-3 months. You don't want it, somebody else will take your car.

Even if EV tax credit gets cut, you are still paying $10k cheaper than before. Unless the demand dwindles, zero incentive for Tesla to cut model 3 or model Y. If anything they'll raise the price back to $58k which was mentioned some time ago as their sweet spot in terms of pricing.

Trying to look for correlation with other models does not necessarily mean it will be spread throughout all their model line ups. The reason why MX and MS are being discounted is because they have a huge inventory pile up of cars and with the recent news of MX and MS cars starting to get HW4 built in, Tesla is trying to get rid of the existing inventory with the older HW just to clear the lot. That is why they are heavily discounting those 2 models.

The M3 and MY on the other hand are in a complete opposite position where the demand for both those vehicles is off the charts and inventory is being snapped up quickly since people want to take delivery in March in case the rules do change in April. However I think regardless if the IRS rules do change in April, assuming that happens, I think there will not be as many cancellations as you may think. I think if there any teasers of potentially parts of HW4 that start to get installed like the HD Radar, I think sales of the MY will continue to proceed as normal. I doubt most people were an all in or nothing scenario where if the credit got cut in half they will cancel. However if for some strange reason the IRS EV credit got cut to zero which i highly doubt will happen then I can see an large influx of cancellations.

To further add to your point…Elon isn't one to hold back news and even often exaggerate. The investor conference was a snozefest. I just took delivery of my MYLR a month ago so I was worried. I wanted that hd radar. I think they are further off on these upgrades than people in this thread are hoping. I've seen the news and new cameras were spotted on some MX. I just think we're a ways away.

I also think the company is in a bit of a mess. Their fsd is recalled and they haven't rolled out their backup vision. They have to fix that for us hw3 people.

I did want hw4 but I wasn't going to pay 15k for fsd anyways so it wouldn't impact me that much anyways. Ps very happy with my MY only complaint is the ride could be softer but that's how they different the MY from the MX/S.

Like you, I wanted HW4 mainly for the HD radar and the additional cameras to see if that helps with the Autopilot feature since I wasn't intending to buy FSD for 15k also.

My dream was that on Investor Day that they would announce that starting March 1st all the MY and M3 being produced would be HW4 included. However seeing all the stuff that is going on with FSD beta being pulled from all cars and this recent screw/bolt recall thing on the MY and the current huge backlog of MYs, I can't see Tesla rolling out HW4 until Q3 or Q4 of this year where they would need a slowdown in orders to retool the production line to accommodate the changes needed to add HW4. By that time, who knows the price of the MY and auto finance rates.

Tesla floor mats are weather tech rebrand and they suck - the fit is awkward and the driver foot rest doesn't go all the way up.

Some of their stuff is worth, others just rebrand and overpriced.
Same thing the Lexus Dealer told me when I wanted to buy all weather mats for a Lexus. Said that Lexus all weather mats are rebranded Weather Tech at twice the price.

What about the Paint Protection Film for the lower rear door for $50? I want to get that, are those rebranded something else? If so what? Fifty bucks ain't going to break the bank for me, so was planning on just ordering from Tesla.

I just got my MY. Looking at the CVRP, looks like you get $0 if you make over $200K joint correct?

I hope it's at least prorated to some effect.

Telsa is turn out the silmer HW4 at GigaTexas. Likely in Q1-Q2 of this year, they move faster than expected.

CVRP is not prorated. It is all or nothing. If you make $200,001 joint you don't qualify. However it depends on what tax year you are trying to do. If you haven't filed your 2022 taxes it will look at your 2021 tax year until April 15th. After April 15th it will look at the 2022 tax year returns regardless. So if your joint income does qualify in the 2021 tax year, I would apply for the CVRP now and delay filing your 2022 taxes until May since CA gets an extended filling period for taxes in 2022 due to the storms. The reason why it will look at your 2021 tax year is because part of the CVRP application process is to fill out an IRS form that you give the CVRP board permission to retrieve your latest filed tax returns for income verification which if you didn't file your 2022 taxes yet would be your 2021 tax year.

Not sure what you are saying here.
