Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

Just curious to know why folks prefer getting the MY LR to the standard AWD model, it gives only 50 more miles and is around $2K-$3K more in cost. Please clarify. Thanks. 🙏

I live 100-140 miles from a major city in a cold state and I want to tow occasionally. Long range for $2k more is definitely worth it.

Shop around. Progressive is the cheapest to insure the Model Y, and a close second is State Farm. For the Model 3, State Farm is cheapest, and close second is Progressive. USAA is third for both the 3 and Y.

Geico is at the most expensive end to insure a Tesla, and Model Y specifically. Only Ameriprise and Amica are more expensive. While Geico might have okay rates for combustion cars, for EV they are sky high.

Get quotes from Progressive and State Farm, and if you qualify for USAA then a quote from them.
clearly mileage may very as Geico is cheapest for me.

CVRP is not prorated. It is all or nothing. If you make $200,001 joint you don't qualify. However it depends on what tax year you are trying to do. If you haven't filed your 2022 taxes it will look at your 2021 tax year until April 15th. After April 15th it will look at the 2022 tax year returns regardless. So if your joint income does qualify in the 2021 tax year, I would apply for the CVRP now and delay filing your 2022 taxes until May since CA gets an extended filling period for taxes in 2022 due to the storms. The reason why it will look at your 2021 tax year is because part of the CVRP application process is to fill out an IRS form that you give the CVRP board permission to retrieve your latest filed tax returns for income verification which if you didn't file your 2022 taxes yet would be your 2021 tax year.
Do you mean CA state tax? I filed my federal, but haven't mailed in my CA taxes yet. Hmm...maybe I should delay mailing it in.

CRVP will ask you to fill out IRS form 4506-C to request transcript of your tax return. Not sure about the federal vs CA taxes thing. I would recommend calling CVRP on that. However if u have no concerns of running into income limits u don't have to worry about this.

In the long run yes because with battery degradation it can help soften the blow especially NMC batteries.

The FAQ specifically mentions eligibility is based on form 1040, your gross income, not AGI.

Curios, what state?

For me they're the highest so far by a long shot - in NY.

Already got state farm - just filled out questionnaire 10 mins ago.
1300 ish $500 less than Geico at 1800.

Was looking into Amica now.
Edit: Amica came out to $1600.

Will check progressive now.
Edit 2: website said error we wont insure your vehicle for new business? wth? attached screenshot
Edit 3: called Progressive they are not writing Tesla's up for new insurance in NY bummer. It's certain models in certain states. Apparently Ohio is not writing certain Kia model under progressive (shrug).

Will check other companies as well.

Thanks!!
I am in NJ and have NJM
I had Geico for the longest time and moved to NJM(much lower rates)
Got quote from Costco connect and they were about 40% higher than NJM

For Financing I recommend United Teletech Federal Credit Union
Good service and 66 months at 3.75%
If and when GCFCU will open up financing for everyone and keep the same low rate of 2.49%, I will refinance

Anyone here applied with Tower and had their loan status change to Cfio? Was anyone able to get the loan status everted and funded?

It's just unbelievable that they approved my membership just days before the loan 30 day pre approval expired.
I also had the same status online and visited a branch yesterday in MD as my membership application was pending. According to them, this status means your 30 days lock period has expired and you will have to reapply again at the higher interest rate. The preapproval email I had mentioned a date and I was still within the 30 day window. They were willing to cut a check of the loan amount and give me the same lower rate but they need the VIN. My problem is no VIN.

So everyone was saying March 1st was some kind of deadline for the IRS, my question is how come nothing has been said since then.

Is it possible this credit just becomes the norm for the rest of year or more. Could anyone not buy a TESLA today and qualify?

We had a previous EV credit program and then this one came along with even better terms. Is it crazy to think there would be even better tax programs? Just a thought
