Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Same thing the Lexus Dealer told me when I wanted to buy all weather mats for a Lexus. Said that Lexus all weather mats are rebranded Weather Tech at twice the price.

What about the Paint Protection Film for the lower rear door for $50? I want to get that, are those rebranded something else? If so what? Fifty bucks ain't going to break the bank for me, so was planning on just ordering from Tesla.
If you are in a qualified region, you may get it for free (front mudflaps as well) - just request it when you take delivery of the car. PSA: have it installed at the service center so that they could do a proper job. My mobile install was crap so I had to have them redone it for free.

If you don't qualify for the free one, it's still cheaper from Tesla because they install it for you for free.

For accessories, I would recommend amazon and the following places (I've ordered from them with free shipping but if there is something that you want to return, you may have to pay for return shipping):
https://tesbros.com/collections/t...ccessories

When I look on the website for the paint protection film or the mudflaps it seems to indicate that they send them to you and you install it yourself with instructions. Unlike other things like tow hitches and spoilers that you schedule for install. How are you getting them to install the paint protection film for free?

PPF and front mud flaps are free for some regions, I know for a fact that you can get them in WA and OR as well as MN. There have been reports of them starting to be available in other colder areas. Just put in a service ticket under "other" and ask for PPF and front mudflaps for free.

Even if it's self install, it's $40 on Tesla, $45 on tesbros. Not sure what comes with the Tesla ones but with Tesbros, you get all the extra stuff to help you install it (slip and tack bottles, etc...). Hope that helps.

Yep. Plus read the news. HW4 has already been spotted in model X. Will be coming to model Y by end of year. The 2023 model Y is literally going to be the black sheep of the lineup bc no ultrasonic sensors and no HW4. Literally a downgrade. I doubt even basic functions like park assist and autosteer will work as well as previous or subsequent models. So this current discount will start to feel like you "get what you pay for". Oh and retrofits are not possible for HW4. So the current 2023 model Y is as good as it will get forever

Don't cancel until its official. Sheesh people just like to jump the gun. We don't know when the IRS will announce their guidance. For all we know it could be delayed 1 or 2 months.

HW4 we don't know when it will come out but my guess is Q3 or Q4 since it would need time to retool the production line. I was hoping that on Investor day that it would be the trigger so that MY's produced in March will contain HW4 but they got a lot on their plate right now. I am a bit bummed about not having all the HW4 stuff but I know myself I will never get FSD so HW4 should not be a deal breaker. I think if anything I just really wanted the HD Radar if that helps with Autopilot. In terms of no USS....at some point people need to get over this but I think once Tesla Vision is launched which so far leaks have shown from cars that have the USS disabled and just running on cameras and it can show distances. Hopefully when Tesla Vision is launched to implement parking it will just add all the sounds like it does with USS parking and then it will be fine since USS is really only used for parking. The thing you also have to ask yourself is that the longer you wait the higher the auto loan rates will be as well along with who knows what the price of a MY can be in Q3 or Q4. With this whole MY "Juniper" potential update in late 2024, you may see some people wait out for that as well which is even more ridiculous. One thing is for certain is that there will be build issues with the initial launch of any significant update and HW4 would be one of them so its sorta like you don't want to be the first ones in that production lot anyways.

I have a decent auto loan rate and was able to lock in the MY at that $52990 price so if it turns out by the time HW4 MYs get rolled out and the MY is like $58K with auto loan rates at 10%, I will be glad I took my MY back in March when I did.

If you are not planning to get FSD or enhanced AP, then HW4 will make little to no difference. Wanting to have the best and latest, you'll always be waiting for the next one... and the next one.

I would just wait for the IRS guidance or try to grab an in-inventory one.

Yes. When I picked up my car, the person who helped me did it for me on my phone. My friend submitted his request 1 or 2 weeks after he picked up the car.

lol by the time they buy their HW4 model an announcement will come for 550 mile range tesla.
Then they will continue to wait again. After that solar panel based charging. Then they will continue to wait again lol.
Edit: i made these scenarios up, but what if? lol

Buy what makes you happy and later get something else when its time. Thats my plan. Will get model x at some point in the future and im sure by then it will have better cameras, range etc etc. Will gladly enjoy this for now.

Edit: tesla never gave HW4 isnt possible for retrofit statement - just a bunch of youtubers guessing. All this over something people wont likely pay the 15k package for.

I can forecast some other statements that people will say to further delay their purchase.

1. "Yes the MY now finally has HW4, now is the time to buy...but wait if i just wait a little longer then long range MY models will have 4680 battery packs...gotta wait for that now".
2. "but wait what if by that time....Juniper refresh is almost ready....i don't want to be stuck with an old design...gotta wait for that now."
3. "Wait what....now MY has solar panels instead of the glass sunroof for charging for additional range to 400 miles....gotta wait for that now."

In terms of the HW4 retrofit situation....Tesla already said it is too costly and Sandy Munro Associates have done a teardown and comparison of the HW3 vs HW4 computer and certain ports are on opposite sides as well comparing the spacing of how a HW3 MY and HW4 MY housing looks like underneat the frunk. It is not compatible with HW3.

As long as it was noted on the date and before 100 miles it should be good.
