Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.
  • Refer to the forum thread for additional deal discussion.

Hi!, I am due to pick up my Model Y on March 12th. Just wondering if you don't mind, did you have to do or ask for any special paperwork to get the $7,500 rebate? All i can tell is that from the IRS website, is that Tesla at the time of delivery needs to notify the IRS (or something like that) to ensure I get the rebate.
When I bought my first Model Y in 2021, I never saw any employee.. i just got into my vehicle and drove away.. but for this car.. I really want to be sure i get the rebate.. Thanks for any info you can provide!!

There is nothing you need to do on delivery day since to claim the tax credit you will have to wait until Feb 2024 to report your 2023 taxes to claim the EV credit. In the app, it does give you the optional option to enter your SSN when filling out the owner information so that Tesla will send you a tax form as proof that you made the EV purchase in 2023 and on a particular date.

The $7500 EV credit is not available as an option for instant credit until starting Jan 2024. For 2023 you will still have to claim the EV tax credit via your 2023 taxes.

Hi, I placed an order for a MYLR back in mid Jan 2023 (the day after the fist $500 increase), my delivery date has been moved a couple of times and it has stayed between Apr 1 - May 6 for a long time. And Today I suddenly see the delivery date got moved to Mar 16-31.
I have read on this thread that could due to a couple of reason, someone cancelled order, or rejected delivery (probably due to bad build quality or some other reason),
The paranoid side of me can't help but think I might be getting a car that someone rejected. And I am surely going to inspect the car with the best of my ability before taking delivery.
My question is, what if I take delivery of the car and then realize something is wrong, will Tesla still fix it ? Also, if I refuse to take delivery of a car, will I be place in queue for another one ? Or is that the end of the transaction (Do I get my $250 back?)
And since I am here, anyone cancelled/reject their MYRL in the south shore area of Mass ? Smilie
Thanks a lot, I have learned so much reading up this "expired" thread
I had a similar experience last week. They issued me a VIN # then the next day I got a "It's time to schedule pickup" notification. I was very concerned that this was a possibly rejected car but it was in perfect condition. There could have been many reasons but hopefully all goes well for you as well.

Same paranoia for normal shopping. Never take the first one (front one). Always get from the middle to the back ..

no paperwork from tesla regarding the $7500 rebate. Its all through the IRS instructions when you file your 2023 tax return next year.

The only way to tell is whether the car was built in Fremont or Austin which you can look at your VIN in the 11th digit. If it says "A" it is from Austin and "F" for Fremont. To date only Fremont builds come with matrix headlights if you're just getting the long range. Of course, all performance models which are only built in Fremont contain matrix headlights

Got my Tesla Model Y.
Love the car but the lack of USS has me bothered.
Double pane windows is so much better than my older model 3.
anyways, got a rate of 5.4% which I know is average since rates are high these days. anyone can recommend a better rate in the bay area? appreciate it.
