Deal Details
Tesla has dropped the base price of the Tesla Model Y from $65,990 down to $52,990. This price reduction means the Model Y now qualifies for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit (details here).

Thanks to Community Member MurraytheDemonSkull for finding this deal.

Additionally, the base prices of all Tesla vehicles have been reduced. The base Model 3 is now $43,990, which is $3,000 lower than before. The Model 3 Performance is now $53,990, which is $9,000 lower than before, and now qualifies for the tax credit.

Editor's Notes

Written by RazorConcepts
  • This is $13,000 lower (19% savings) than the previous base price.
  • Factoring in the tax credit, the price of the Model Y today is $20,000 less than one purchased in December 2022.
  • To qualify for the federal tax credit, one must not exceed the following adjusted gross income limits:
    • $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
    • $225,000 for heads of households
    • $150,000 for all other filers
  • The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due.

So the new guidelines will be announced at this week ? New Model 3 and Model Y vehicles qualify for a federal tax credit for eligible buyers. This $7,500 credit is in effect for deliveries taken before an update to the federal guidance, which Treasury and the IRS intend to issue no later than March 31, 2023.

That is just the rumor of what they are saying but I won't believe it until I see it. For all we know it could go into April.

Possibly but up until now the IRS has stated that they intend to issue guidance by March so its not technically lying by Tesla. Of course this week is also the last week of Q1 so yeah I wouldn't be surprised to see them push for the delivery sales to end Q1 strong.

Especially if lets say IRS guidance is issued on Apr 1 then it would possibly lead to cancellations in orders if the guidance leads to the complete $7500 stripped (ex: Model 3 SR which uses LFP batteries by China) or if the credit is cut in half to $3750 then they can brace for it. I think Tesla wants to have as many people qualify for the EV credit since it is not Tesla paying that $7500 out but rather the federal government.

I live in a warm climate that never snows. So, just using the included stock front/rear seat carpeted mats.

Needed something for the rear trunk, and ordered the Rugged Textile Rear Trunk Mat from Tesla. Arrives later this week.

Only thing left is I want to get a Front Trunk Mat. Might go aftermarket for that one. But hard to find a good one for less than a hundred bucks.

Anyone getting the $350 Homelink module?

I'm now having to carry around two remote boxes (haven't had to do that in like 10 years). Not sure if it is worth $350, or just go old school and carry around two remote clicker boxes.

You could just purchase a Chamberlain MyQ Smart Garage Hub - Wi-Fi enabled Garage Hub, normally goes on sale for below $20 in Amazon, and use your phone as remote. Easy install and no sub needed.

My garage door open already has MyQ integrated into the unit, and I have the phone app which I used when I go walking on foot. But then I still have to pick up the phone, unlock it, find the app on the phone with tons of apps installed, launch the app (which takes several seconds), then press to open. So the app is good when I walk out on foot, so I don't have to carry the remote. But actually more trouble than just the old fashioned clicker remote in the car.

Also, the second remote I have is to open the gate of a gated community, and for that one I would need Homelink.

Would be easier to have Homelink because it can open both the garage door and the community gate automatically when I drive up without having to fumble around with a phone or remote. But debating if it is worth $350.

If you plan to use the car than 5 years, then it is worth to spend ~$6/month (total $350) to save few seconds thinking about where is remote and make your life less stress.
