Yep I saw it. Thanks for confirming it's not the same monitor. You can go back to sleep now and think about what you've said.

This is absolutely not a total lie. Going from 60hz to 120hz was a GIGANTIC difference. You'll feel like your mouse is stuck in syrup going back to 60hz when you even do office work, gaming has nothing to do with it. Think about your screen is now refreshing twice of what it was. The look and feel is extremely noticeable. I haven't gamed or used a monitor at 60hz for over 10 years.

Really tempting but I really wanted either 4k or ultra wide format.

You can absolutely see and appreciate high refresh rates vs 60hz and you're quite perhaps slightly blind if you can't see the difference.

If you play mp fps it leaves you with a distinct advantage. You won't catch professional fps and moba players using 60hz monitors. The pro CSGO people are mostly running 240hz iirc. I mean literal pros, tournament people

I struggle to notice a difference between 120 and 144 and up, but 60 to 120 is huge. Any time my refresh rate gets set to 60 it feels like my games are choppy and I notice right away. To me it is a must have feature for gaming

Where do you find the edu discount information

Offered by various employers and institutions. You can find a handful of previous threads on Slickdeals that mention "edu" or "epp" deals exclusive to those accounts.

Going from 60 to 100 + yes. But going from 60 to 75 obviously no difference. He doesn't have a clue lol

Total lie. Visually no difference. Only if the monitor supports overdrive but then you'll also sacrifice latency with that too. If you are a competitive gamer then anything above 60 hz is the way to go.
Are you saying you will only notice a visual difference using over drive? You should never use over drive. What he's saying is not a total lie. It will make a big difference competitive gamer or not. What is the hz of the monitor you are using now?

People will weirdly die on this hill, but I switch between 165, 75 and 60 on 3 different systems quite often and I absolutely never notice unless I'm looking.
You aren't very observant then. Are you sure you have your monitors facing the right way? You aren't looking at the back of them with the screens facing the wall are you?

Anything above 60 hz-90 hz is considered "competitive" refresh rates. Not ruling out that it is not better because yes higher refresh rates are better but if you're someone that plays single player, it's not really necessary. Also for example when you compare side by side you'll notice the difference immediately, whereas if I played on 60 hz to 30 hz, it becomes unbearable. I myself own a 1440p 144 hz but I also still have a 1080p 60 hz with no gsync/freesync feature & when not comparing side by side, just going from 144 hz to 60 hz on a game like Spiderman for instance, in-game feels smooth & clean that i get adjusted to it no problem. even the resolution can be comparable but in that front 1440p is better for sure any day. The price for this G5 though for what it is isn't terrible. I'd get it but I don't really need it tbh. it would be an upgrade from that 1080p monitor that I have.

I got a $250 32" Samsung UR59C Curved 4K VA panel and had to return it. I purchased it to replace an 27" Dell IPS panel that was occasionally flicker 1-3 times a day. Not a big deal but gets annoying after a while. I also have a LG 32" Ultrawide IPS.

While VA panels have great reponse times and refresh rates at an economical price. Their color quality is not as good as IPS. They're not as vibrant and felt as if they had a washed out undertone/haze side-by-side to an IPS. This stood out noticeably when I have a moderately lit room vs sitting in the dim/dark setting. Kinda like how you compare a brand new piece of clothing to one you've worn for a couple months. One is noticibly duller.

If I had wanted a comparable IPS panel with good refresh rates, it definitely would run into the $300-500+ range
Now you have me wondering if my local Costco has this monitor in stock to buy it and return the LG to Best Buy (today is last day for return). I'm not using the monitor (my son is). After changing some settings I immediately said it looked washed out. He is gaming with it using his Series X. Decisions decisions lol

*EDIT*
Called my local Costco and the rep said this was an online item only.

This is a wide screen, right? Therefore it has less height than a non-wide 32-inch, correct?

I have only had ips panels then I got the s80a on a deal and recently sold them. I just found it was so dim even in a dark office. I think it may just be that va panels have less color pop? Maybe IPS is the way to go even though I have found blacks on my previous IPS monitors to be quite lacking.
