While this may currently be the best price, I feel like there was a time these were heavily discounted at various outlets including Costco and Sam's Club as well. I suppose we can chalk it up to inflation, but pretty pricey. Honestly, aside from the composting component, making a raised garden bed is extreme easy with some wood from HD.

Some of you all may be really good at hobbies / passions but I often go through phases with gardening being one of them so my raised beds eventually got neglected lol. So having a homemade one made it easy to break down and burn the wood.

Funny / but probably true if you have slugs problem: "The compost basket sounds like a great idea, but the truth is it's a really big problem. It stinks and attracts flies during the day, and worst of all, tons of slugs at night. If you go out with a flashlight after it is dark, especially if there is moisture in the air, slugs are already all over the white PVC walls on their way into the garden you worked so hard to get to started. To add insult to injury, the slugs also crawl into the hollow PVC posts where they sleep during the day. You can watch them pushing the post caps up and crawling out of their built in garden bedrooms after the sun goes down."

Some find it to be relaxing to do some gardening, for the issues you noted, just grow and donate the vegetables to the homeless. You get the relaxation from gardening and the satisfaction in helping out your homeless community. It's a win-win situation and turning a negative into a positive.

What? the whole point of a raised bed is to NOT cross-contam with whatever the farks going on with your dirt.

Did you not bother to look at the product? A quick look at the pics show a compartment specifically for putting compost in.

there seems to be a small, separated section where you can put compost

As we are on slickdeals, financially such Garden beds do not makes sense to grow vegetables in north-east backyard. Additionally, it may not be healthy or organic, as garden beds are generally in backyard, where lawn fertilizer and weed killers will be sprayed, which will leech into vegetables.

Click into Costco link and it will show that the center area where it has the lattice divider is the compost area. Based on the description, the lattice divider can be removed so you can easily move the compost to the surrounding soil.

This is my biggest problem. The 10 beds we have are all on top of thick plastic. Weeds and gophers. I really want to gut everything and connect it to soil but gophers are brutal here so i'd have to have some major metal framework low. too much work arg.

If you don't want to pay for a tumbler type of composter you should just get a large trash bin with fairly flat lid and use that. Add stuff, flip. Add stuff, flip.

i have a huge pile myself

Bought three sets of these to make two beds that are 20'x4'. Can't beat the price per square foot of gardening IMO
