I promise if you give it time (3-6month) this drive and many other will be going down in price. If you are impatient....then get it now but don't be sorry if you see it lower in 3-6 months. We are about to have hella lows on technology that was overpriced during the covid days. The manufacturers have surplus amounts of these things and will be wanting to get rid of them soon.
I hope you're right. Holding out for better external SSD drive deals too.

Compatibility

Also, can confirm this fits and works in the PS5.

Waaaay overpriced now that there is a glut of DRAM and NAND memory combined with people and companies not buying PCs. 2TB SSDs will be $50-100 by the end of the year with the excessive amount of manufacturing capacity from Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron. Current 2TB SSDs are $99.
Serious question. If there is such a glut of DRAM/NAND then why is everything out of stock? I'm not even sure why this is showing up as a deal when you can't even get the drive until march without paying a reseller an extra $50 if you need it sooner.

I currently have this in my PS5, completely worth it! Just be careful when installing, it's very easy to lose the 'washer' that helps keep the drive in place.

I picked up SK Hynix Platinum 2 TB [amazon.com] for 179.99 just two days ago and has already gone back up to $246.99. Glad I didn't wait.

I paid $197 for an sn850 non x with heatsink 2tb about 6 months ago that was a front page deal here. This seems like an even better deal and makes me think I should have waited. Should be a great plug and play drive for the PS5 since the sn850 works great and this is even faster.

Apparently this version is not the real PS5 authorized one, below is with the same name, selling for $220. I dont know exactly what the difference is practically

The statement is stupid because who waits a whole year to buy something they need just to save a few bucks? It boggles the mind. Also think about this: who buys something they have no plans to use now or is unsure because it is on sale? Everything gets cheaper over time. If I waited 5 years, I wouldn't have wasted $200 on a 128gb SSD that is only half the speed of the current sata SSDs.

Why is everyone only talking about this from a PS5 perspective? This is the fastest nvme for PC as well right now.

There is a firmware update for this that resolves some poor performance issues with some configurations. I bought one last month, and the WD toolbox updated the firmware on it for me.

The folks comparing this drive to a $99 Q flash drive aren't well educated on nvme drives. The endurance and performance of this drive are far above those.

Perfect for a use requiring a heat sink like the ps5. I love the heatsink on this. It's heavy and has baffled holes in it for airflow. Pretty low profile.

This is the drive in 2 of my gaming pc's and my PS5 and it is wicked fast. If you can afford this get it, you will not be disappointed.

As always some of us have too much money so we can afford these slickdeals and don't have to keep waiting and waiting and waiting.

Grabbed this deal and initiated the return for the exact same drive showing up at my house today (paid $200). Amazon (under other sellers price matches this) already updated and expected by Wed or Thursday of next week.
