Both things . These are perfectly OK but, yes, HP batteries are better for brushless tools. HP on brushless allows for more power to the tool…. Personally I buy only HP batteries because I have a bunch of brushless tools.

If you're planning to spring for that 6 port charger with 8 batteries, you can do 6 batteries instead and choose 2 batteries as a free gift. Saves you some money.

The free gift applies for all charger kits except the 8-pack.

Rather solid deal. Note that many kits come with 1.5Ah batteries instead of these 2.0s and also those often don't have battery gauges as these do.

The best deal might actually be 2 battery and charger combo for $119, plus 2 free gift batteries. Unless you really need 8 batteries.

Edit: I guess you could get the four pack along with it and then you'd have 8, two of which are 4ah, for $219. So looks like that's quite a bit better of a deal.

Are these OK, or would HP batteries be preferable, especially with brushless tools?

Anyone know if any of these chargers are better than the p189? Or which charger charges fastest for multiple batteries. The p189 is painfully slow.

The HP batteries must be cursed for me or something. I've had two of the 2 AH HP battery suddenly stop working when used in a brushless hedge trimmer and drill. Ryobi customer service sent me two replacement HP batteries, BOTH of which failed to correctly charge in the charger. The third one they sent to me finally charged correctly, though now I'm reluctant to even use it in my brushless tools.

Not all brushless tools have the extra contacts for HP batteries.

I use regular 4ah in my brushless circular saw and really can't tell if I'm missing out without HP batteries or not. It cuts well with the setup I already have.

Project farm on YouTube just did a comparison of regular and HP batteries

Yeah but they didn't do a proper comparison. HP tools have an extra pin on them to use more power. The non-HP tools don't have this pin so they don't get any real benefit. HP tools will benefit from HP batteries.

Is it worth waiting on a deal with a charger or are those easy to come by? I need more batteries for sure, seems like a good price for a ton of batteries.

In for the 2x 4.0 Ah Lithium-Ion Batteries w/ 18V Charger $79. I only have a few tools, two chargers, and one battery. This will round things out. Thanks OP.
