This is a very good mesh router set, if your internet speed is 500 Mbps or under. It's no nonsense and easy to setup, even if you are not a techie. The 6Ghz band is used for the wireless backhaul. I would've kept this (from the Costco BF deal - $270), if I didn't get the Orbi Pro SXK80 which has a 2.5 GB port and supports VLans.

The 6GHz is optional backhaul, which should probably be kept off and used for client only because of the range limitation from 6GHz.

Tri-band 6E mesh units are just as bad as dual band mesh units because they either share the bandwidth with their clients or dynamically switch backhaul between the three bands with limitations of 6E (range) or 2.4 (speed). I went from Orbi WiFi 6 Tri-band and was getting excellent speeds with the dedicated backhaul until I switched to this 6E Tri-band from thinking the magic marketing word was Tri-band until I noticed speeds were slower because there's no dedicated backhaul (but at least the ability to turn off 6GHz as tri-band).

You are right. With a 4600 sft home and 300 Mbps symmetrical connection, this 3 pack mesh worked well for me. I was hitting full speeds everywhere in my home. This is good for someone who doesn't want to wire their home or use the wired backhaul. I agree that using the 6e band for wireless will have to wait until we have quad band routers. Well, I guess, we'll be debating WiFi 7 when that happens.

This is a very good unit and set.. I've put them in homes and small business with no issues.. when using the third band for the MESH backhaul, I can't get more than 500MB from even a 1GB connection, but it's not really a problem.. I could probably hard connect with ethernet and get higher throughput but for some implementations that's not necessary. Does anyone think "refurbished" is a problem for these units?

In for 1. I think my Xfinity XB7 router is making my sound bar sub unpair. Hopefully this fixes it.

This is a great set.

I'm too lazy to wire the AP's together, so I use the 6E as dedicated backhaul. 2600sq/ft two story house, averages about 400mbps/40mbps on all my clients. (My circuit is ~900/40).

I have one upstairs and two downstairs at opposite side of the house. These replace my old AMPLIFI-HD mesh system I bought ant the start of the pandemic, and the performance is almost double the throughput.

I have 5 of these in a 3200 square foot house (3 on the main floor and 2 upstairs). I used to have google wifi pucks and the performance with these is noticeably better - I can stream 4k wirelessly via plex without buffering which I could never do with the google pucks.

Can these be hardwired for better speeds? If not, or no advantage, what's a better set if I have hard connections in each room? I'm still running some older dual-band stuff (a/b/g/n type stuff) and it's working decently, but it's several years old and probably due for an upgrade.

Great routers! Got them on BF from the Cosco deal, and they are very solid. I got 3000sqft but not getting much than that outside. I have thick walls so maybe that's why.

They can be hardwired. I picked up a 3 pack from Costco about a month ago and have two hardwired and the third is wireless. I replaced an enterprise grade Ruckus r850 which didn't work well in my two story home.

The only major complaint I have is that there is absolutely no way to configure these with a web interface. You have to use the app. The web interface just displays some general info but to do anything you have to go into the app.

That said - the app is fairly nice. I was able to set up custom dns, pope (century link fiber), port forwarding, and dhcp reservations. You can also disable all lights on the router!

I'd buy it again and at this price I'm tempted to pick up 3 more to add some more or just keep spares on hand. Even stand-alone I think these would make a great home wireless router.

Is this the official eBay store of TP link? I know the username says it is but curious if there's any official confirmation anywhere
