For newer Samsung phones with 4GB+64GB or less including A13, A14, A23, etc., if it lags and freezes during normal usage, update to Android 13 (One UI 5) and go to Settings - Device care - Memory - RAM Plus and turn it off completely.

My Galaxy A23 becomes much more responsive after T-Mobile pushed Android 13 and allowed me to do the above.

Wireless charging is not a midrange phone feature, let alone a budget line like this. Pixel 6A doesn't have it either.

Yes, the Wh is a unit of energy and therefore a measure of capacity. A 1-Wh battery will take 1 hour to charge at a charging rate of 1 W. A 2-Wh battery will take 2 hours to charge at the same 1-W charging rate. So, charging time does depend on battery capacity. Of course, it is possible to charge at a different rate; I chose 1 W simply to make the arithmetic easy. Choose any rate you wish, but mathematically, it will still take 43% longer to fully charge the battery at a 30% charging rate reduction. It's not hard, just middle school arithmetic.

Let's calculate the average wireless charging rate from your example: 11.725 Wh / 2.3 h = 5.0978 W.

Now, let's calculate how long it will take to fully charge that 16.75-Wh battery at that rate: 16.75 Wh / 5.0978 W = 3.3 h.

3.3 hours is 1 hour longer than 2.3 hours, is it not? So, charging wirelessly, it would take a full hour longer to charge. That's 43% longer, not 30% longer. 3.3 / 2.3 = 1.43.

To go from 100% of something to 70%, you multiply by 0.7. To get back to 100%, you do the opposite and divide by 0.7. Dividing by 0.7 is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal of 0.7, which is 1.43. You don't get back to 100% by adding 30% of 70% back to 70%. You get back to 100% by adding 43% of 70% back to 70%

The same concept applies to investing. If you buy a share of stock for $100 and the price falls 50% to $50, you don't get back to $100 if the stock rises 50%. It would have rise 100%. If it falls 80% to $20, it would have to rise 400% to recover your original investment.

Perhaps there is a middle school math teacher here who can explain it better, because I obviously stink at trying to explain this. Maybe I'm wrong about it being middle school math [youtube.com]. I'm old, it's been a while.

You are still getting the concept wrong.

70% efficiency means a 30% reduction from 100%.
0.69 hours = 30% of 2.3 hours

What took 2.3 hours with wired charging now takes 2.3 hours + 0.69 hours = 2.99 hours or almost 3 hours.

THINK.

I also have 2 $40 pending charges, I tried to buy the phone on monday and when I clicked the "Place Order" button, it told me my order was cancelled and had to go to a metro store , then on tuesday I tried again and bought it without any problems, don't know if that has something to do with it

Well yes, this one is quite decent. Compared to 2 generations ago we have A12 which is borderline unusable. Samsung upped their game on the 5G variants of the A13 and A23 generation to compete in premiums markets like the US. In other markets crappier specs exist (like the A13 and A23 non-5G).

This time around (A14 5G) they decided to keep the processor the same but upped the screen and front camera specs. I would say that's a good decision to make the phone overall well rounded. But recall this processor uses 2 Cortex A76 cores (2018). This would be slower than the Galaxy S9 with better screens and cameras (~$120 used). The only thing going for this is probably the 4 years of security updates.

The MSRP of $200 for this phone is fair. The Metro subsidy is what makes this deal awesome.
The S9 had Cortex a55, which is older gen, so this would be a slight upgrade on that at least.

If anyone knows - I created a Metro account 8 months ago in-store and activated two phones, used both for one month. Is it fine to use the same account to get two more phones now? Will in-store corporate will allow to get new phones even if the two previous phones were just activated and paid for one month?

You can call metro customer service to cancel service, or simply don't pay anymore and the account will cancel itself

Got the phone today. Seems like a decent hardware with crap Samsung software. OneUI Home keeps crashing. Had to install an alternate launcher to use it. Took a few mins to uninstall/disable all the crapware that could be.

Phone came today. Went online and activated it. Installed Sim and all is working. Made a call and sent a few texts. Now just hang out 6 months and go from there...
