Razer audio products are all well known for being really crap sounding~ Razer even invited Crinacle [youtube.com] to visit their Headquarters where he measured all their headphone responses and made a video on it. He basically just said they all suck and its pretty obv based on the data. Razer even allowed him to publish the video, so even Razer knows their audio products sound bad lol. The irony is that Razer owns THX, and they dont even make full use of their engineers there and instead opt for the THX marketing department to slap a sticker on their products instead~ So imo Hardpass...

Seems a bit weird to bunch every single product they have into one generalized statement, no?

The reviews I've seen on these say they are very comparable to everything in their normal price range, yet these are 60% off..

Even rtings.com has given these a pretty good score

RTings has a really weird and arguably lenient measurement index. Partially cause they have a bunch of other subjective scores for things like things like comfort and fit. But even when you look at Rtings measurements. You can see things like: It has a overall bass bias which isn't a bad thing, but 100-300hz bass hump which is kinda problematic, then slight dip in lower mids to give a V shape, another random dip at 3-8K, then like after 10-11k there's just nothing, huge massive dip. I'd say the statement still holds true, Razer doesnt make audio products that sound good, tho im interested in checking out their speakers and the new headtracking soundbar seems pretty cool. I don't really always follow with Rtings measurements for anything outside of TV's because theres a lot of quirky things they do when measuring speakers and headphones that kinda make it innacurate. I'll still use rtings occasionally for things like portable speaker measurements just cause nobody else measures them, but when I do buy them i'm pretty disappointed in how they sound based on their measurements and review. Like I purchased my Sony RA3000 based on their reviews and measurements, but was let down in when compared to some cheaper JBL portable speakers that measured worse for them. I'm also not sure what their exact microphone and rig setup is like, doesn't seem standard and thing like imaging scores are pretty flawed as explained by Oratory1990 over on reddit. I think Rtings has a lot to work out since they don't quite understand the data and procedures yet.

If you want some generic consumer sounding product there's plenty of headphones w/ a mic that do the same job if not better. Bass boosting doesnt help you hear more detail contrary to what razer and most gaming headphone companies seem to think. All you need if anything w/ a decent soundstage/image and good detail retrieval.
