+1 here. They gave me crap about returns a few times in 2016 and that got me off the fence. Never looked back. Before that I was frequent with Newegg
Yeah Newegg is beyond shady shit. They sell you broken shit yet blame you, not accept most returns, rma stuff but it'll be permanently lost and zero recourse. Just so many issues, it's insane they're still in business. I've never had an issue myself but I also never buy from them, last time was probably 2014ish and it was cheap HDMI cables.

It's shame it's from NewEgg or I would have ordered one.

I bought a bunch of machines with TeamGroup m.2 drives installed and ALL of the drives (10+) went bad. Not saying ALL TG drives would be like that, just my experience, I skip this brand now.

I bought a 75" LG that arrived damaged in 2018. Turns out it was sold by Beach Camera through Newegg, each one trying to pin the problem on the other. After a few days I called Amex, filed a claim and got my money back. Someone finally came after a month and picked up the TV.

Here's the kicker...three months later I try to sign on to Newegg to find my account permanently suspended. When I called I was told I was suspended because I never returned the TV. Even after I sent them a copy of the shipper's ticket that it was picked up they wouldn't reinstate my account. Beach Camera put Newegg on the hook for the money saying they never got the TV back and I ended up with a suspension.

Been that way for years. If you never had a problem, good for you, but it takes just 1 time and you will be on the ever growing list of folks who instinctively down vote when they see NoEgg as a seller. I am not TC'ing, but you asked why, and there is a reason. I am on the list of never again ex customers. I normally skip even reading a NoEgg thread, but the price of this drive peaked my interest.
Piqued.

Man, SSD prices are dropping like a rock. Hopefully 4TB drives drop below $200 soon. Would be nice to pick up an m.2 drive so I don't have to worry about cables.
Man, don't say that too loudly. I bet SSD makers are grinding their teeth when they see what GPU makers are getting away with.

Probably the best company out there. Not trying to milk you to death at 1-2TB with exorbitant prices for the past decade like Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron. Should break those monopolies up.

Why? Was Newegg also bought out by shady operators?
There's basically no returns. A lot of these guys like to buy things and then return them. You can't do that at Newegg. The business is set up to operate as a one-way Street

I spent too much time proving that an item was defective in two different instances. One time I ordered software and it never arrived. Contacted them a few weeks later and they apologized and sent another. Then tech YouTubers started noticing Newegg being naughty where they caught them lying and attempting to bribe. Too many reasons to never buy from them unless I'm desperate. Haha

Bummer about your experience.
From my perspective, Newegg really went down when they switched to the "marketplace" model like Amazon, where they allow anyone to list and you have to start watching for whether things are "shipped and sold by Newegg" just like you have to on Amazon. Before that, it was just Newegg and the experience was more reliable.

Having said all that, I have ordered from Newegg in the last year and it was fine. (It was RAM.) Also, I live near a MicroCenter so I have a solid local option.
