No RTSP support on these cameras

So from what I found out from their live stream is it is a "V4" in a way but with simple connections/housing so it's not a true V4 but it's also not a V3. It doesn't come with magnetic base and the base is more limited in range of motion. So from an internal hardware base it's better than V3 but packaging is less than a V3. I guess In a way like an iPhone SE or maybe even an iPad mini??? where its newer hardware but in older housing.
Two cameras = two SD cards
But once the stacking kit comes it's one power cable.
They wanted to go back to being a "low priced camera company". they mentioned there are going to be a lot of different cameras coming out in the future like wide angle, super wide angle, 5x, 7x zoom cameras and other options to add onto this "OG" ecosystem.
The V3 is compatible with other items like spot light, garage door, and other items where as the OG ecosystem won't be.
It will be two series: a higher end series and a lower end series and each will be compatible with their own system. So instead of buying multiple high end cameras for simple areas you can buy cheaper cameras that do one specific job for that one location. like instead of buying two OG cameras and stack them for a wider view, you would just put a V3 pan in that location. and instead of putting a V3 or V3 pan to see down the side of the house you would just put in an OG or OG telephoto to see the entrance gate down the side of the house.
I guess that would be the best way to put it. Each OG camera will do one specific job with a processor and sensor that is better than the V3 so it's not a V3 replacement. Hope this helps

Yep, he just overreacted and screwed himself out of 3 free months of recording. LOL. I have 3 cams setup just fine and not a single thing has be asked of me yet.
I didn't over react I just don't setting up features that I'm going to lose in a short period of time anyway. So I set it up from the beginning the way I'm going to use it and move on. What am I going to do with 3 month recording and then it'll go away.
Did anyone get anything else with that code? I thought about getting those $3.99 window mounts for the v3, but now the livestream is over and I'm unsure if the coupon is fully expired, or just not applicable to other items.
From my understanding, I think the telephoto is permanently set at the 3X original view. Which is why they have stacking capabilities. This way you have a camera for the whole area and then a telephoto to zoom in on important areas. If I'm wrong could someone explain it better.
WILL have stackable capabilities. Kind of a bonehead move to release the cams and not have that piece ready to go. Currently you can't get the thing to stack them so I'm waiting until it's released.
FYI, in case it matters, neither is compatible with Cam Plus Lite (from the FAQ):
* Are either Wyze Cam OG or Wyze Cam OG Telephoto Cam Plus Lite compatible?
* No, neither camera is compatible with Cam Plus Lite.
Good idea to point this out. I'm fairly sure I read on Wyze that no cameras after the v3 will offer Cam Plus Lite. These do still have SD card capabilities.

So without cam plus lite what are you left with if you don't opt into cam plus? Can you live view? Are there any notifications? Can you view the SD card without removing? Just wondering.

Hmm.. I wonder if I should return my Costco 4-pack of Wyze v3 that I just got and order this instead. It seems except for the base being different, these are better because of the integrated light. Anyone else have any opinions? Seems like no reviews comparing them yet.

Interesting, I did not know that. I suppose that makes sense though as they're pushing folks onto their paid plans like someone had previously mentioned.

I believe you can still use live view and still get notification, but the latter will be "limited". There is a bit more info on what you can do without a subscription at https://www.smarthomepoint.com/us...scription/.

The V3 Pro gives you CamPlus capabilities on the camera itself without a subscription. It also gives you 2k video.

Partially true. V3 Pro has onboard "people detection" so it doesn't rely on cloud CamPlus AI to recognize people (versus other cameras like V3 OG needs CamPlus). Also, without the paid plan, you are limited to 12 second cloud recording every 5 minutes when you sign up for the "free" CamPlus LITE plan.
This V3 OG will require paid subscription to do more intelligent detection such as people, car, pet, and packages. Without that, you may get a bunch of unnecessary notifications of moving trees, clouds, etc. As other has already mentioned, the free plan doesn't apply to this new OG camera.

I don't know why they did this instead of giving us optical zoom for around $40-$50. This is 2 cameras, so you have to have 2 SD cards? I really expected something cooler like their new pan cam, this looks like they took old V2 cam and made slight changes and added built in light.
Also with 2 cams, you need to run 2 lines or do they at least daisychain like V2 cams? If not, that's another disappointment.

Edit - Poster below found these new cameras are not eligible for the Cam Plus Lite sub.

I placed an order earlier before I knew about the code. Chatting with support, I was able to get a refund for shipping

Isn't it still limited by subscription, though?
Is there a chart of comparison now that they got ton of different cameras?
I still have 2 V3 cams that I got from HD deal.
