No RTSP support on these cameras

So from what I found out from their live stream is it is a "V4" in a way but with simple connections/housing so it's not a true V4 but it's also not a V3. It doesn't come with magnetic base and the base is more limited in range of motion. So from an internal hardware base it's better than V3 but packaging is less than a V3. I guess In a way like an iPhone SE or maybe even an iPad mini??? where its newer hardware but in older housing.
Two cameras = two SD cards
But once the stacking kit comes it's one power cable.
They wanted to go back to being a "low priced camera company". they mentioned there are going to be a lot of different cameras coming out in the future like wide angle, super wide angle, 5x, 7x zoom cameras and other options to add onto this "OG" ecosystem.
The V3 is compatible with other items like spot light, garage door, and other items where as the OG ecosystem won't be.
It will be two series: a higher end series and a lower end series and each will be compatible with their own system. So instead of buying multiple high end cameras for simple areas you can buy cheaper cameras that do one specific job for that one location. like instead of buying two OG cameras and stack them for a wider view, you would just put a V3 pan in that location. and instead of putting a V3 or V3 pan to see down the side of the house you would just put in an OG or OG telephoto to see the entrance gate down the side of the house.
I guess that would be the best way to put it. Each OG camera will do one specific job with a processor and sensor that is better than the V3 so it's not a V3 replacement. Hope this helps
Hmm.. I wonder if I should return my Costco 4-pack of Wyze v3 that I just got and order this instead. It seems except for the base being different, these are better because of the integrated light. Anyone else have any opinions? Seems like no reviews comparing them yet.
The mount was changed to save money. The rest of the camera hardware is better.
I don't know why they did this instead of giving us optical zoom for around $40-$50. This is 2 cameras, so you have to have 2 SD cards? I really expected something cooler like their new pan cam, this looks like they took old V2 cam and made slight changes and added built in light.
Also with 2 cams, you need to run 2 lines or do they at least daisychain like V2 cams? If not, that's another disappointment.
Daisy chain. And it was done so you can link them with a picture in picture mode. One for your driveway to catch license plates one for the entire field of view for example.
I'm wondering if I could just get the telephoto and stack it with a regular V3 that I already have the spotlight accessory for... I mean that's essentially the samething as the OG, but with a better/brighter light. Also the way I see it, you can either dual SD card both and Cam Plus the OG regular, or only SD the telephoto and Cam Plus the regular since you don't need a sub for both when stacked, just scroll to the same timeline in playback on the telephoto with SD card if something happens on the regular with the Plus sub.
The OG had a special slot the stacking kit slides into and locks into place. V3 does not have this slot.
Seems like a great deal...
But whenever I see a Wyze cam ad on Facebook, I comment with this:
Wyze: PLEASE add Fast Forward scan capability when reviewing stored videos. ASAP!
Even at a slow frame rate, it would be MUCH better than the current 30-sec skip ahead option. Many things can be missed in 30 seconds!
I will NOT buy another Wyze cam until they fix this!
.
FYI - Even inexpensive EZviz cams have 2x, 4x, 8x AND 16x fast forward for free!
.
PS - I've got a Wyze Cam Pan v1, and reviewing the video clips is TORTURE. I will NOT buy another Wyze cam until they fix this!
V1 is well, too old. But my V2's and Pan have been recording for years and still do. There is no lack of support, firmware gets updated, all works with new app updates.
Last time I updated fw on my V2 it bricked.
Wyze offered me a $15 coupon, which I used to order $25 "free" refurbished V2 with Cam Plus sub.
When it arrived, it too need a fw update. "Refurbishing" does not even include installing the latest fw.
Also they told me the $25 was for the Cam Plus sub, and the refurbished V2 was NO WARRANTY.
However, I did discover that the original one which WAS bricked, was able to update the fw with the uSD card method buried deep on their website.
I have a bunch of wyze cameras v1, v2, pan. The SD card recording stops working over time for all of the 7 camera's. Wyze doesn't support them. Customer service never could resolve the issue. I would avoid wyze
I agree but my V3s have worked fine with the cards and I'm thinking that they've solved the issue. But yeah, they never did fess up to the problem.
In the livestream, they said Home Depot will also be selling the new cameras. When I looked, I didn't see them listed yet. They also said HD decided to discount the V3s without any incentives. Assumed they were clearing out the V3s so they could stock the OGs.
ok, I guess you were not aware the device has continous recording mode. No problems. I bypass pay wall, with big microSD cards. What are you using instead of Wyze? And does that have pay wall too.
I understand your frustration with pay wall, but I guess you don't appreciate the starlight mode?
Also, 20 bucks is pretty good for me. I bought 8 of the v3 (from Home Depot supersale) , and I love them. I loved the v2 cams too, but wider field of vision, and starlight and waterproofing improved in the v3 are nice improvements.
I guess you are just warning people not to get Wyze, what do you recommend, and what is the price, and what is price of paywall.
I own Wyze, Blink, Ring, all these are fu**king wrong, some battery operated to make it easy to move around, but all missing important moment, limited recoding time, limited alert. not mention subscription restriction .
The one really works for me that is my 7 more years old cheap Zmodo 1080p cameras and its NVR, the system has been worked day and night, continuing record 7x24x365, never missed any moment, the NVR holds 3 more month recording on HDD/SDD

Wyze should have made the FREE SHIPPING for 2-3 days with announcement of OG models, since they are going back to their roots.
I was going to buy it and the promocode for FREE Shipping didn't work for me. I cancelled it.
Not sure how many hours the promocode worked, maybe a few hours....
You'd like to chatting with support then they'll refund shipping cost.

* Are either Wyze Cam OG or Wyze Cam OG Telephoto Cam Plus Lite compatible?
* No, neither camera is compatible with Cam Plus Lite.

Edit - Poster below found these new cameras are not eligible for the Cam Plus Lite sub.
