I own Wyze, Blink, Ring, all these are fu**king wrong, some battery operated to make it easy to move around, but all missing important moment, limited recoding time, limited alert. not mention subscription restriction .
The one really works for me that is my 7 more years old cheap Zmodo 1080p cameras and its NVR, the system has been worked day and night, continuing record 7x24x365, never missed any moment, the NVR holds 3 more month recording on HDD/SDD
... I remember the good old days of Zmoto and NVR ( I forgot, was it 99 dollars on 4 cameras plus recorder on slick deals back then, running cables all over the place, and it did work, I think I had 500gb hard drive in recorder. OLD School! Do you still have the Zmodo going, or did you pack it up, like I did? Sounds like you still have it set up, though.

Not an apple to apple comparison. A wired NVR system is obviously going to be more reliable and stable than these convenient WIFI ones.

I have had my NVR system up at my businesses for +10yrs.. still running without any issues. I'm looking for a WIFi system for different purposes. I also would like feedback from users on these: Wyze, Reolink, YI.

Ps.. tried out Blink over the holidays and decided to return them. In a nutshell.. live view constantly hangs due to it recording (motion detected). It'll lag in alerting you of the motion, then records.. but then times out when u try to see what's going on. Only 1 person can view cameras from app at a time. App barely usable since cameras either are Busy or unavailable.

Got two v3 cams for $25 before Xmas.
Not much difference unless you want a spotlight.

Last time I updated fw on my V2 it bricked.

Wyze offered me a $15 coupon, which I used to order $25 "free" refurbished V2 with Cam Plus sub.

When it arrived, it too need a fw update. "Refurbishing" does not even include installing the latest fw.

Also they told me the $25 was for the Cam Plus sub, and the refurbished V2 was NO WARRANTY.

However, I did discover that the original one which WAS bricked, was able to update the fw with the uSD card method buried deep on their website.
So essentially you got a free $15 coupon. That unbricking thing is easy to find if you google it. Also quite common, you can do similar with many other devices, routers, ipads, etc. But I have to surprised that their support did not send you there, that's on them.

I have bought new ones that needed upgrades, several. But this is the case if you get a laptop too, windows will sit there and update for hours. The first thing my brand new xbox did was start an update as did my Fire Stick. Just saying that you are being very picky.
The way I look at it, you can always buy a $200 arlo and then if that needs an upgrade when you take it out of the box I would scream at the to fly over and do it for you, at $25, I am happy with the upgrade process.
Secondly, I love to see stuff update when I plug it in. I hate it when I plug in a device that you know came out a year ago, and then it tell you the last firmware was 1.5 years ago.

So its not perfect but I rather have this vs paying double.

Hmm.. I wonder if I should return my Costco 4-pack of Wyze v3 that I just got and order this instead. It seems except for the base being different, these are better because of the integrated light. Anyone else have any opinions? Seems like no reviews comparing them yet.
It depends what is more important to you, the light or the 12 second free recording and access to it on cloud (yes every 5 mins), and if one base it better than the other. Also if you plan. to pay for the plan, or have the unlimited camera plan, then these are better.
Personally I have about 50 cams and other devices across 7 family properties. On my house I pay the sub for 2 of 12 that face front and on my door. The rest are on free cloud and 24/7 recording on SD card. The other cams either don't have much movement, or I can use the every 5 mins as a way to find what I am looking for (car parked, car gone, you look in between on playback...or based on the ones that record on sub).

I have a spotlight on the front and it gets kicked off with passing car lights, I just let it be, but it also sets off the other camera, so I am not sure if there is a great benefit to it if you have nearby cameras and something can set it off. So personally I would keep the V3 with the cloud recording.

I am also unclear as to what happens on these without a sub

I read thru these comments and apologies if I missed this.

Does anyone know for sure what happens with these OG cameras if you do NOT have a sub. You are recording 24/7 on the sd card, but I currently use the 12 second recording on cloud as time markers to find what I want.

Will notifications still work, there will just be no video?
Will person detection work for those notifications?
Can you run a wyze switch or lightbulb based on movement on an OG cam that has no sub?

It shows 2 pack for $38.98. Is there any coupons?
I got one for looking at wyze making an account then not buying anything. Got a $3 off 50 offer earlier in the week.

whats the difference between this and the v3?
New mounting system, just got mine today they shipped so quickly. It's taller than V3 with the stand video worse with no illumination at night if in color mode. Very slightly smaller than V3 no wyze cam lite subscription compatibility. Microphone I don't notice an improvement my V2 picks up better still. The V3 has wider FOV 130 vs OG 120. For $20 pretty good at launch price. They had free shipping promo for a short amount of time while they did the livestream.

So is it just the dead center of the fixed camera that zooms to 3x ?

lol they charge me $1 per month for something I still don't understand what the service is.

I do agree that I hate the subscription models all over. if they have SD card slots, you can skip the service and it will save to the card. But irritating to get spammed with offers for "Pro", "Premium", "Plus", "AI", and all the other buzzwords

Wyze is good for most small home/business. It does require some moderate babysitting (firmware updates, occasional rebooting, etc). Do not update it over VPN.

You can set motion alerts. The app is constantly updated and you know how that goes with software developers.

No idea about multiple people signing into the app to view it. I have only ever used it on ipad and iphone with my personal account. Setup is easy.

I got the V3 pair around Christmas time with the intent of running the firmware that allows for a direct RTSP stream. I then plan to use them with Blue Iris. Do these OG models have RTSP support out of the box, or still no plans for that?

I use 3 Wyze Cam Outdoor cameras but they don't allow constant recording to the microSD despite having microSD slots. It's really frustrating. Battery-powered is necessary in my situation. If anyone has a suggestion on better options, I'd appreciate it.

I bought the wyze came deal from home Depot which comes with 3 month cam plus. When I set them it said "activate your 3 month wyze cam plus membership" I was like "nope"
Same here, asking for trouble with the free trial. The Home Depot v3 cameras made me jump through more hoops to have the free monitoring that only records a few seconds and takes 5 mins to start again. My other v3 cameras had that option instantly now you have to find the free subscription while constantly getting prompted to upgrade unlimited. The cameras I do have unlimited on I canceled the subscription once it auto renewed on me and the sent me a way discounted price option
